    Hi Star Fire

I'm BR as well so my credit rating is dead anyway, We lost our business and home and now save up for everything we have. If we do get a house it will be with a BIG deposit and will be basic (but better than being at the mercy of a landlord when we are old and grey) It may not be possible but if you don't try you never get anywhere.

We have well and truly learnt our lesson. Never work for yourself cos it can go very very wrong. And never spend money on credit thinking you have a safety net of a job cos that can go away very quickly too.

The money we spend on the credit card is sat in the bank before we use it.
Its just a shame that you have to get credit to build up a reputation for being responsible so to speak. Perhaps its time pressure was put on the banks to look at steady saving, regular work, paying your bills on time etc, but thats not in their interest is it?

Yeah see what you are saying unfortunately banks are going to look at you and your OH different when it comes to lending you money, like you say you work got money coming in pay your bills on time, and they don't want to know, you will get there in there end its just time for you to build up your credit score again, and you will..also when were you discharged

Wait until you start applying for the big mainstream lenders can't see them lending to you. Then again you just don't know.

I dont really feel the need to apply to the big mainstream lenders, happy with the credit cards I already got. Plus, got mortgage, own car - so dont really need to lend any more money.

I applied for a Vanquis card and a CashPlus prepaid card a month or so ago. The CashPlus came through after just over a week. The Vanquis has taken just over a month to get approval. I've had two phones calls recently asking for security details. During the first call, I didn't setup a direct debit for the minimum payment. Then nothing happened. Then another call a week later asking the same stuff. I then gave bank details and setup the direct debit and then as soon as I gave this, she said "you have been accepted".
She then tried *very* hard to sell me the insurance. Everytime I said no, she kept asking me why and kept effectively saying that this wasn't a good enough reason. I kept saying that I don't want it and she then read out her final script as quick as she could and hung up!
My experience of Vanquis staff so far is that they are very rude!

Interest rate is 49%. I plan to pay off in full each month and use this (and the CashPlus card) as a way to improve my credit rating.
