Hope she is ok... for me, the high incedence of pyometra and the way it can progress so swiftly is a very good reason to spey.
Jo4 have you tried her with a bit of scrambled egg, or a few sardines? These may tempt her into eating better?0 -
We wished now we had speyed but we were never given the advice too ,as our girl had never had a season ,the vet said she was baron so not to worry

I haven't tried her with either. I will try her with them later when she is due her next tablet but I will have to go to the shop for sardines as there is none in the house. I will have to leave her for a little while.0 -
Glad to hear the wound is healing, but sorry she is till feeling under the weather.
Tinned cat food is good for tempting dogs to eat after an op, just a little slightly warmed in the microwave so it gives off more smell..... disgusting to us but can tempt even the most fickle dog. If she is eating bread you could spread it on top like pate

She seems to have a lot of energy although not as much as she had previously.

It will take her a while to get up to full strength - she has been very poorly, and had an operation whilst ill , which is boudg to take more getting over than speying would in a normal, healthy dog. Its probably good she is not too bouncy at the moment cos you dont want her stitches getting pulled!0 -
I bet she is really feeling a lot better ,but enjoying all the extra attention and sympathy ,so milking it now

We took our dog to the vets today for her annual jags and the vet said she has arthritis in her front left knee. He said it didn't seem to annoy her because she was her usual hyper self. He said there was nothing which could be done for her and that it was due to her age, she will be 10 years old on the 22nd October.
She still runs about and it is only the odd time that she holds up her paw but I would rather try to help her now than leave it to it is too late even if I could only ease the pain she must be feeling.
Has anyone else got a dog who has arthritis and what helps their dog or is there anything I can get to help her as I don't want her suffering?

Hi Jo4, sorry to hear you dog has arthritis, many older dogs suffer too.
It sounds like your Vet didn't understand that your dog felt pain from time-to-time.In your place I would consult the Vet again (maybe over the phone as he has just seen her) and say that her leg is uncomfortable and ask what treatment he would recommend, there are lots of medications that can help ease the discomfort.
Hope she feels better soon. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

Glucosamine.
You can get joint aid chews with it in, or give it in tablet form, its done wonders for my boy. Cod Liver oil capsules are good too, and have the added benefit of a glossy coat
Please excuse my bad spelling and missing letters-I post here using either my iPhone or rathr rubbishy netbook, neither of whch have excellent keyboards! Sorry!0
