Beautiful dress poppyscorner!! If you feel glamorous AND comfortable in it and your other friends liked it, then go for it! Trust your gut, as they say. On the day, with accessories, tan, make-up and hair done, you will look stunning and the naysayers will be speechless! If they still moan, make sure they get less food and less drink and just stick your tongue out at them!!! :D

Will you still love it in 18 months?

Unless her guests are the cast of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, that could look very odd in November!

    Actually, that's a good point.
Seeing as you've got 18 months, there's no need to rush the decision - I'm sure the dress will still be available.
If it's the dress you love, and someone else thinks it suits you, then go for it. But you've definately got time to consider the decision (and convince the others!).
Also, as you're having a November wedding & you mention wanting a jacket, it's worth considering what it will look like once you have the top half covered up.
eg. Will the jacket cover the dress in such a way that the "wow factor" of the dress is lost?
Will you want a bare back in witner (when you have the jacket off etc)?
If you're looking for a cheaper version, will having a copy loose the shape / design that you like?

Sorry for the long reply - I'm kinda thinking out loud for my own deicisions as well as replying to your post!

But the main thing is to go with something that you'll be comfortable & happy to wear for your special day, and something you'll love looking at in the photos :)

It's a few weeks since I went and tried on now and I can't find anything that has the same feeling I get when I wear it and everything is being compared to it IYKWIM but I definately do have time to make my choice you're right about that.

Many dress shops have advised I go see the new ranges due in June (ish) time so I think i'll wait until I see these first but I think it doesn't matter what I do it isn't going out of my head :o

The jacket I chose to try it with covered the bits of my arms that I hate but not the dress it stopped at the top of the back and it looked like they were made to go together I certainly won't want a bare back and the jacket will not be coming off its short sleeved and just finishes the look IMHO.

When I say finding it cheaper I don't mean a copy I mean that dress cheaper than £1k lol the dress is available on the copy websites but it is very structured internally and I doubt very much that the copy sites could replicate it.

Hope that answers all your questions thanks for the input xx

Thanks for all the replies guys appreciate it I really do trust my best mate/bridesmaid I think I may have found the dress but I'm gonna wait for the new collections I think and try to clear my head between now and then and try to make my final decision then but nothing else has even come close as yet .................oh dear that sounds like my mind is already made up doesn't it ? lol if anyone comes accross it anywhere online could you let me know please

    Thank you xx

I have to say, its a WOW dress. I think your family have a huge chip on their shoulder about something.

If you love it, and it gave you that feeling, then its the one for you!
