  • I agree with Philnicandamy, the cashplus is superb and is the only one with the same protection as a credit card. Also you can activate it so you can do car hire s well.

    Thanks for all the replies.

What are the fees related to the "mycashplus" card and can it be used for paypal payments ?
  • Hya - Think its £9.95 for card issue and £4.95 per month. However, if there is no money in your account you don't pay the monthly fee - I think. You'll have to check that out to be sure. I've got to say its not very clear what the charging structure is on their website.

I got a cashplus in preparation for my BR and kept it for a year while I still felt I needed that 'security' because I didn't have any credit. I did have to use it for an emergency in Sainsbury's one day when I thought I had some cash but didn't. Now 2 years on I don't feel I need that but I have been thinking of renewing it to have the protection on purchases and car hire etc.

Get the o2 money card, its totally free, and you can top it up with your co op visa debit, and then use it for free in the places where the co op won't work. you have to be an o2 customer to get one thats the catch.

I am an O2 customer and got refused for the O2 Load and Go card.

I have to say it left me scratching my head as I was led to believe it was for people who could not obtain credit or debit cards.

I'm not even bankrupt but have a payment plan with CCCS.

    Work that one out.

They have an auto-response stating you already have card. When I called them to explain that 'I don't' they said that it means 'your application was declined' and would not elaborate as to why.

It's a pretty ridiculous situation to be honest. It is by far the best card of its kind on the go and I cannot get one.

    Ridiculous.

At the moment I have no card I can use whatsoever due to my agreement with CCCS so I am very limited to the things I can do.

It's really difficult to do simple tasks without a card and I have been like this now for 18 months.

    So frustrating.

OOPs shames I've had a pay as you go with them for a number of month and spend a good £20 - £30 a month with them - that might just have to change!

I got the paypal one with out a credit check, think it cost me a fiver and I know it can be expensive to top up - I only top up via paypal its self after selling things on ebay

The other card I have is the Cash plus card - very good cost £4.95 per month or £1 per transaction (i do it this way as its more of a saving for big things card) - this doesn't do a credit check either but it does cost £9.95 to buy but covers your first month payment

    Good luck
