I know of more than a few people who done a flit in the middle of the night, leaving with big bills owing! As long as it isn't anything "illegal" i.e. drugs/murder I don't think its any of your business is it - Burglars don't usually steal furniture unless its expensive antiques!

1:01am (I looked at the clock) Sunday morning, 3 guys were loading things onto a truck from next doors house (no they weren't robbing it).

Why would you need to remove items in the middle of the night?

If you're shifting things long-distance and have to start after work, you can easily end up driving and lugging heavy stuff around at daft times of the day.

Why would you need to remove items in the middle of the night? At first we thought illegal - doing a runner, immigration after them etc but the family appear to still be in the house. They were there Saturday day but not evening as if they were we would have heard them - always fighting, kids screaming, any movement can be heard etc We didn't hear anything still Sunday afternoon.

One guy came out of his house to ask them to be quiet as they were shouting really loud but one guy got aggressive saying he would call the police and then started saying he wasn't a criminal etc etc and got ready for a fight. The guy who asked them to be quiet left saying he'd call the cops and the 3 men shortly closed up and left.

The house is facing a junction and if anyone was driving that night they wouldn't have been able to get past as they had parked the truck into the road/junction.

I just think this is strange

For all you know, the people with the van might have been coming to pick something up after they got off work. Can't see how it is any of your business either way really.

I had a similar thing happen a while back. An alarm was going off, crashing and banging reverberating throughout the (half empty) terrace. Break ins all over the shop in previous weeks, doors being kicked in etc.

I called plod, explained the situation and they sent someone round to have a look. They satisfied themselves that no crime was being committed and left it at that. It's maybe not a 999 call depending on the circumstances but a quick call to the local constabulary never goes amiss.

This "It's none of your business really" thing only holds so much water - someone could be killed in plain view and plenty of people would "mind their own business". Not very helpful! And yes, there are cases where this has happened - dozens of eyewitnesses to a murder, none called the police!

People were moving furniture and making noise doing it and they obviously weren't being furtive or secretive about it, so it's hardly the same as someone being murdered in the slightest.

That was to illustrate a point. A disturbance in the street outside your home I personally would consider your business. Perhaps if more people took a more active approach to things happening around them rather than minding their own business, the world could be a better place. Social responsibility I guess? Not always, by any means.

Anyways, getting a bit OT. OP, doesn't sound too dodgy - I think you have your answer? :D

  • They were clearly removing dead bodies from the property, hidden inside the furniture. Also, with the furniture removed, they can now have more space for their cannabis factory.

Maybe the bodies belong to the legitimate renters of the property, who were held against their will until benefits were signed up for and rolling in... and once they had no further use for them, they disposed of the bodies in the furniture.

    Really ... it's simple.

I did just this last night.
I live opposite the village school & at 23:00 my dog started growling. I looked out the front window to see 2 people jumping over the locked gates leading into the school grounds.
I 'phoned the police inmmediately & while still on the 'phone top the operator noticed a security light going on behind the school building. I then saw the 2 people returning & both were wearing I.D. badges on lanyards round their necks so I assumed that they were Social Workers looking for missing children & told the operstor this.
The call was logged but no further action taken.
I challenged the 2 people & they confirmed my guess.
Notwithstanding, the episode would still have been recovered on the school security camera.

dedrag do the neighbours rent or own the place?

If rented do you know the LL, ie was it the last neighbour / someone you are friendly with? It might be worth letting a LL know the events so they can do an inspection if they want to.

If neighbours own then yes it is strange activity but probably nothing to worry you / neighbourhood.
