Try looking in Ixia in Rhodes, its just a very short distance south west from Rhodes town but would probably suit your daughters more. Also Kalamaki in Zante is lovely. Close to Laganas if they want to visit but far enough away that you don't even know its there if you want to avoid it!!0

Pollycat, Thanks for the info I really appreciate it. The kind of shops we are looking for are anything really that has a bit more than beach towels, postcards, fridge magnets etc, do you know the kind I mean? Think I will have a look at Tsilivi.
IMO , there is no more to do in tsilivi than there is in hanioti for your girls. Both are lovely places though , have you had a look on trip advisor , you can filter reviews of places by families etc may help you find something suitable .Making a change in 20130 -
I like Crete.
Lots of nice resorts to pick from.0 -

I would second Aghios Nikolaos in Crete, I went there with my Mum when I was 16 (1999) and it was great. Big Long Beach, loads of shops (local, boutique, tourist) and loads of tavernas/restaurants. It is not a lager lout, clubbing place like Malia further up the coast.
I can also recommend Lassi in Kefalonia. It has 2 lovely beaches, a couple of bars and loads of tavernas/restaurants. They only shops they have in Lassi is an upmarket Jewellers, handful of tourist shops and a few supermarkets but the capital Argostoli is a 5 minute taxi ride or a 30 minute walk if you are feeling fit and they have a lovely range of shops, many upmarket shops, clothes, shoes, Jewellers, The Body Shop (!) and more tavernas, restaurants and clubs.0 -
We are going back to Tsilivi in Aug ,this will be our 3rd time.
We take our kids age 21 , 17 , 17 , 13 we like it because it is lively but not full of drunken teenagers. There is plenty to do and the beech is fantastic.
I would recommend you dont stay at the Planos end of Tsilivi as there is not as many bars at that end .You can take boat trips out and I would highly recommend the Shipwreck ,the water is fantastic.
We like the balance of bars and restaurants and love the fact that we feel save walking around at all times.
Hope you have a fab holiday wherever you go

I was a rep in Lindos last summer and I can't recommend it highly enough. It's small enough to walk around, family-friendly and very safe. St Pauls beach is beautiful, as are the other beaches.
There are great bars and family-friendly restaurants and lots to do around about. There's a beautiful small town called Pefkos about 2-3 miles away and you can get a bus or drive to Rhodes town in less than an hour.0 -
That's good to read, Lovetotravel. :T
We're going to Lindos at the end of June.
Everybody we've spoken says says how nice it is.0 -

I've been to Lindos too, it was really nice, but I think Crete is a better all rounder.0
