Holiday to Greece HELP!

:mad: Can anyone plz help, I am pulling my hair out!!:mad:

I am trying to find somewhere in Greece/Greek Islands for me, hubby, 2 daughters aged 19 & 15. Somewhere with a nice beach, loads of shops, bars, restaurants(enough for 2 weeks) Last year we went to paleokastritsa & tho lovely, it was too quiet,Roda(Corfu) was ok but don't want to go again. Was thinking I had found an ideal place in Hanioti but have been told theres not much for 2 weeks.Don't really want the Malia/Faliraki etc type of resort. Was thinking of Chania or Rhodes town?

Please can anyone give me some advice, I know I sound a fussy B !!!!!!!:cool2:

I agree with Spiro's advice re TA, also try Holidaytruths.

What sort of shops are you looking for?

As a starter for 10, take a look at Tsilivi on Zante or maybe other resorts on Rhodes (we're going to Lindos) or Kos (I think Kardemena may be a bit lively which might suit your girls).

We really enjoyed Skiathos, been twice and stayed in Skiathos Town the second time.
Much better idea, the buses going into town get really busy and sometines you can't get on them if you're staying in one of the resorts.
You can then get buses out of town to any of the beach resorts along the coast in the day.

try Lagnas, Zante, but stay to the outside of town rather than in town due to large numbers of youngsters.

we stayed at Oscar Apartments, Laganas (Direct Holidays), which is outside of the town but plenty of shops within a walking distance. also they did run a bus down to the beach couple of times per day.

We visited Laganas (intending it to be for the day) when we were in Tsilivi.

We were on the next bus out!

Lots of bars being cleaned up, vomit in the street, stink of fast food.
We couldn't see a single decent place to eat.

That's just my opinion, although MUM40 does mention 'large numbers of youngsters'.
If you don't want Faliraki, I'm not sure that Laganas would suit you.

Your girls may like it, though.

Pollycat, Thanks for the info I really appreciate it. The kind of shops we are looking for are anything really that has a bit more than beach towels, postcards, fridge magnets etc, do you know the kind I mean? Think I will have a look at Tsilivi.

Rhodes town has some good shops and an interesting old town with lots of history, the bus service is very good so you you can visit lots of other places easily, the harbour is interesting and you can go on boats to Turkey and the small islands around Rhodes like Symi, Halki etc so there is plenty plenty to do there.

My son, wife and thirteen year old daughter go to Tsilivi every year and love it, they like the beach and entertainment, I don't think it will have the kind of shops you want there, it is a holiday resort where as Rhodes Town is also a working town.

Have a look at Parga on the mainland, lots of restuarants and bars. Some nice shops, day trips by boat to Paxos and Corfu, and really pretty!

We've been to Rhodes and Zante, much prefer Rhodes.
We stayed in Pefkos which is fairly near to Lindos and it was fantastic.
There are lots of shops in Rhodes town but we only visited once during our stay and we only went to the old town for an evening.
It's incredibly hot during the day so I don't think it's a daytime activity. That said, I hate shopping on holiday so I would have avoided it anyway.

Pefkos in Rhodes could be OK - it is on the small side but we found it had enough variety for 2 weeks and the beach is lovely. Also only a short bus ride to Lindos which is fantastic.
