netgear wireless router and lexmark x1100 printer all in one

Options
Hi there,

I have just setup the netgear dg934g router to run my main pc (router+2 lexmark x1100 printers all in one scanner attached) with wireless laptop. Any pointers on how to get laptop to recognise printers as I have tried going into network setup wizard on main pc, but at step 3 it tells me that other computers cant connect to internet through it, but wireless laptop is working fine from it. Someone said that for all in ones the software needs to be installd separately on each pc, but I can't install on laptop as it says no printer attached. Maybe if I attach printer to laptop I might be able to proceed?
Any good pointers on how to setup the printer attached to main pc so I can send stuff from laptop to be printed?

Joe

have a look on lexmarks website to see if it is compatible with wireless print servers(if that is what you are using). you could try installing the newest drivers for the printer on the computers

EDIT just realised you have it attached to the main pc, try a belkin wireless print server or a netgear wireless print server

Firstly, you need to set your printer up for sharing. On your main PC go to Printers and right-click on one of the printers you wish to share and select Properties. Now click on the Sharing tab and select Share this printer. Enter a Share name; it can be anything you want but "Printer1" seems a sensible choice. Now do the same for the other printer (using a different Share name).

The two printers should now have "Shared" icons with a hand like this:

Now, again on the main PC, go to Control Panel -> System and click Computer name tab. Give your computer a name and a Workgroup.

On the laptop go to Control Panel -> System, Computer name tab. Enter the same Workgroup name as you did for the main PC and a different computer name.

Now setup the printers on the laptop. Go to Printers, Add a printer, tell it you want to add a network printer, then when it asks you can either let it find it itself or enter the path to it, which will be \\ComputerName\PrinterName ComputerName is whatever you called your main PC and PrinterName is whatever you set the Share name for each printer to.
