HMRC & Cigarettes

Does anyone have an email contact address for HMRC. I have looked all over their site for one.
We quite often go to Spain & are very near to Gibraltar. They are outside of the usual rules for the 3200 ciggies.
We cross into Spain with out legitimate amount of 200 each time.
We have many conflicting answers & are therefore looking for a definitive from HMRC.
If we bring them into Spain & then into the UK does the 3200 rule applies.
Many Thanks

Am pretty sure you are only allowed the 200I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints - the sinners are much more fun

you can bring 200 into the uk from gibraltar - i remember the resident customs officer on here confirming that even if you make several trips to gibraltar and bring 200 a time into spain you can only bring back 200 from gibraltar.0

The 200 Gib to Spain is a 'per trip' allowance, same as bringing them into the UK either directly from Gib or via Spain. Nothing to stop you making multiple trips Gib to UK, but you can't build up a stash in Spain then import to UK in one go.
The '3200 rule' (which is really 'as much as like if they're for your own use' rule) only applies to cigarettes on which EU tax/duty has been paid (HMRC site lists qualifying EU countries).0 -
This (200) is for DUTY FREE - if duty paid in the country you visited in it is different
Not quite. If you bought duty paid in Australia for example you could still only bring 200
They have to be bought duty paid in the EU to get the higher allowance.
And there are some exceptions as to what makes up the EU0 -

The question was about Europe and I answered about Europe - what's Australia got to do about it - do you expect me to answer for every different country's regulations - or just the one that wass asked about.
"They have to be bought duty paid in the EU to get the higher allowance" Did they move Spain & Gibraltar?
Oh, and the 3200 is (technically) not true it is actually UNLIMITED (as long as they are for personal use or gifts (and no money must change hands)

90 litres of wine
10 litres of spirits
20 litres of fortified wine (for example,
port or sherry). Please note that the country where you buy tobaccothat country’s authorities before you buy.
may have its own laws on how much tobacco you can
buy or keep. If you are not sure, please check with

Sorry to jump in and ask this, so if we flew to Spain, we are allowed to fill our suitcases with cigarettes? Am just asking as I always thought the limit on planes was 200. Please let me be wrong ha ha x0

On plains = DUTY FREE = no tax whatso ever.
Buy in Spain, you will pay Spanish taxes/duty = unlimited.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

Goods imported from the EU have to be for personal use only. If you turn up with a suitcase full of ciggies then UK customs will become VERY interested in you.
The 200 limit applies to DUTY FREE - ie bought after security or on a flight FROM OUTSIDE THE EU. You do not get any duty free allowance for flights within the EU0
