and am I the only person who gets 'recorded delivery' letters just posted through the letter box?

My brother (different postie to us but still miserable!) was expecting a recorded delivery parcel and it hadn't arrived nearly 10 days after he was supposed to receive it. No note through the door to say Royal Mail had tried to deliver. He went to the sorting office to ask and they told him if he hadn't had a note, they didn't have it there. My bro asked them to check their parcel list, which they did in front of him - the guy said "No, no parcel for you". Bro says "I just saw my name on page 2, can you check again plaese?" Royal Mail guy was really grumpy and grudgingly looked again, lo and behold, his name was there and the parcel was there. Postie too lazy to drop a slip through the door. Jeez, how infuriating - maybe that's why they have the glass screen, so they don't get whacked over the head with wet fish for being so useless!!!

    Rant over.

We had a important professional certificate delivered last week. Tuesday a slip came through, telling us it was too big and where to collect it from. Wednesday it was delivered, folded in half and left wedged in the letterbox. It was packed with cardboard and had 'please do not bend' pre-printed on the envelope. Imbeciles!

My postie is fantastic, he always drops off anything too large for the letterbox before he starts his round as he knows I do the school run around the time he will be at my house.

Unfortunately they seem to stick a zombie on the round when he's having a day off, the last time she stuck a parcel behind my bin and it was only when my binman knocked at the door asking if we were supposed to be throwing way an unopened package that we knew it was there at all.

I've obviously got great binmen too :)

Our postie is normally really good, but I had an elderly couple hand deliver a party invitation for my son that they had found half way up the road on the pavement! Good job it wasn't something from the bank - at least one reason for me not to cancel the Halifax paper free banking I signed up for!

My kids go to the same school as my postie - if I am not in he keeps the parcel until the afternoon and then gives it to me at school.
