Capital One woes - accessing online account after card cancelled.

My replacement card (to replace the card coming up to expiry date) went missing in the post last November so after reporting it - my account was stopped.

I was issued with a new card and account number.

However - I'm now forever barred from accessing my account online.

Having been right to the top over this during a lengthy complaint - it seems that if you have your card stopped for reasons like mine - the new one is still inextricably linked to the old one.

Hence - Capital One say they have a software problem with allowing customers such as myself, to continue to monitor and operate their accounts online - as the old account has been stopped - but the new account still links to it.

The best they can say is that - they are looking into it.

NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

I have a capital one card and I haven't been able to access my account on line for weeks.
So I don't think you are missing out on anything.
Seem like they are updating the software, but it's been going on for weeks.

I applied for Capital One in March but they didn't get around to sending me the card until June. The first card they sent was lost in the post (I reported it) and they re-issued me with another one. Then the first one turned up the folowing week with the envelope sliced open. But I was still able to use the online services.

I did close the account in November though. Really bad customer service with a pathetic £200 limit.

Anyone know when capital one will finish updating their !!!!!! site, ive been needing to check my balance since last Saturday.
  • All of you who previously had access and currently cannot have access because the site is down - WILL get your access back.

I started this thread is to highlight the problem with customers who have had to have NEW accounts linked to their old accounts through no fault of their own and who are FOREVER barred from online access because Capital One's software will not allow it.

The whole system is appalling - but this is particular poor. How exactly ARE customers supposed to be vigilent - other than phoning them daily?

Where are you Martin? Surely this needs to be highlighted?
  • Can you access all the telephone facilities as normal?
Is it just the online side you cannot have access to all other things being ok?

Have you tried setting up as a different username online - ie is it the account thats blocked or you?
