o2 Priority list?

I wasn't sure whether this is the right place to put but here goes

Last week, I called up o2 who said I was a Gold priority list member and my upgrade date would be the 2nd May. I also then went to the shop who confirmed this

Today I call them up and they now say I'm a silver member! I'm already writing a complaints letter but do you think they'll honor the deal?

Did the store look on their system with your number, or did you just ask about the benefits of being gold? If they confirmed it said gold on the computer then you will be gold and ignore customer services.

Apologies I was in a bit of a rush last night hence the short post not explaining everything

Basically, I've been told all last week by customer services and the o2 shop who said I was a gold priority member and my upgrade date was the 2nd May. (The person checked the system with my number and confirmed, he actually turned the screen over and showed me)

Then, yesturday, I went into the shop thinking I would now be able to upgrade but the lady in the shop said her system said I was now a silver member and therefore would not be able to upgrade.

I then called up customer services where the representative said I was through to the Gold priority upgrade line and he could see the person I spoke to last week had infact wrote in the notes that my upgrade date was the 2nd may but he would not upgrade me as the computer would not let him.

I don't undertsand! After being told I'm a gold member for months, on the actual date of my upgrade they suddenly change it down to silver!

    Quite annoyed by their service

Well to elaborate on this for you.

Your "priority" status is reviewed every year, so it could of been by a bout of bad luck, yours was up for review, however fear not... the gold priority isn't all it's made out to be anyway... here's why!

When you call up for that lovely upgrade... well it actually isn't, fair enough, you might want a new phone, but you won't get anything better than what they will offer a new customer, there's no discount or anything!

The reason... retentions do not want to speak to you until the last month of your contract, as they know you still technically have 3 months left.. you will just get a phone off the normal o2 page, with the same tariffs. So your best course of action is to wait until the 17th month anyway, when you will have more pull with them.

But if you've read any of the retentions threads on here.. you'll see they've not been giving out the deals like they used to!
:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!

    Thanks Chipofdoom

Yes I have been keeping a close eye on the retentions thread and although customer services said I couldn't upgrade till the 2nd May, They did offer me some not so great deals.

I think it may just be best to stay until my actual upgrade day and then move over to another provider!
