Cheapest short term broadband for new flat with no phone line

Any examples of it in use?. Surely there must be somewhere in the UK where this is actually working?
Which pretty much comes down to market research. I imagine the market for all types of broadband is very different in HK compared to the UK, in the same way as the market for broadband in rural areas of the UK is pretty different to that in the city centres!.
It was first introduced in the Thames Valley area some five years ago. If you really want to know, you can call them and report back.0 -
Hi there,
I'm in a similar situation, although BT have stated that there is no activation charge thank goodness!
I only want broadband for 5 months, before going abroad. 3G coverage is lousy, and no cable in the road; therefore I'll need a phone line to get broadband
Most deals are costly because of the cancelation charges for the last 7 months of a 12 month contract.
The best option I've found so far is to get the phone line rental with the Post Office (£12 per month, no cancelation charge:T)
Then it's finding a short contract ADSL package:
the best so far seems to be plusnet (even though I'm not in their "low cost area") - note having spoken to them on the phone their is a £25 activation fee (listed on website) AND a £25 disconection if less than 12 months (NOT listed on website:mad:). However they still honour the cheap first 3 months on both their 10Gb and 60 Gb, so total costs including £60 of post office line rental is:
10Gb: £155.45 plus buy your own router
60Gb: £180.36 plus buy your own router
If anyone knows a better deal for 5 months, please let me know!
Cheers

How much do the Post Office charge for a new line connection?Install or activate a new line – depending on your situation, we may have to install a new phone line or activate an old one. The standard cost for a new line is £110, subject to survey. But don’t worry – if there’s an old line that’s still active, you might not have to pay
