cat scratching carpet - any ideas?

Basically have 2 kittens ( well 1 yr now). My little blue bear is no trouble, but little ginge is well a bit of a hellian! he looks gorge, is 90% of the time sweet but he then goes & claws the carpet! The carpet is relatively new - we bought it after the kittens. strangely he never clawed the old one -poss as it had different smells etc. I have tried felliway, febreeze, cat 'no!' spray, being firm(but never agressive). nothing has worked. i have now put a rug on the carpet & yep he claws around it. it is such that it has now started to pucker. Any other ideas as to what i can do?

i spray mine with water from a plant sprayer - it stops them when i catch them
but they have their favourite spots and unless i catch them they keep doing it anyway:cool:The mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o

yeah all my cats have a habit of doing that, I'm trying to teach the kittens not to, by telling them no, then putting them on the scratch post and showing them how to use that... but I'm afraid its just one of those things.... I think I shall be getting laminate flooring in the future!!Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind. They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.0

I enheited an adult cat when my daughter came to stay with us temp.
Tinker was doing this and it was ruining our new rug, then i spotted 'Scratch no More' in the Kleeneze catalogue, works instantly. She hasnt done it since.
Brilliant stuff, sounds expensive at £9.99 a bottle but it lasts a long time and a lot cheaper than re-buying rugs.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
