oz flights - best day to depart?

Hello,
I am probably going to go to Oz for a holiday to visit the relatives. I am thinking of oct/nov this yr. I have been on kayak & my eyes are starting to go square. Has anyone flew recently & if so what day is the best to go on. I am presuming to avoid weekends? I want to maximise days as much as i can whilst not using all my annual leave up, so dates are important. Any ideas as how to get the cheapest price?

I'm due to fly out this Aug with the whole family for a wedding (From MAN)
I like you wanted to Max my annual leave allowance and now be using my days off sitting in a plane!
We're flying out Friday evening not the cheapest but as I'm travelling with 2 kids thought it'd be better to aid with jet lag
When searching flying out on a Thursday seemed cheaper, flying on a Sat (depending on where you're flying I guess) only worked out a handful of squid dearer, Sunday was really hyped up in prices (if they had flights)
Try:
- Quantus (can do multistops on their website which is nice if you want to fly to one place and onwards a week later)
- Etihad / Emirates: Both have a good view of dates Vs price table so you can move your dates round to maximise your money
- Virgin blue for Aus internal flights
Happy holidays

thanx doplhin. i know ther must be a hike pof prices at certain times, but half the websites you look at dont give you the monthly view so its time consuming. Trouble is you do get swayed by ppl who have been on certain airlines, but at the end of the day they all fly the same really! will certainly try to get a thurs/fri flight.0
