Hi
Please does anyone know of the best/cheapest options for getting mobile broadband when you don't have a landline? (The type of mobile broadband with a dongle you can plug into a laptop).
This is for an older person who would make light use of it and ideally doesn't want to be tied in to a contract or have to make a regular monthly payment or one as small as possible.
Any guidance on best available options would much appreciated.
Many thx.

Not an expert on the topic, but think you should be trying to track down one of the Vodafone USB sticks on their OLD T&Cs where a top-up lasts for something like 200 days - eg as most recently highlighted on HotUKDeals at Tesco but they quickly went out of stock - i THINK that w/be a good to search for though:

You can still buy the SIMs for £10 or less. Pair it with an unlocked USB modem and you're off.0

I think I'd check the network signal strengths at the location before making the final choice. It would be a shame to pick one which only has 2g there
Dongles don't seem to me to have such good antennas as ordinary phones, or you can add an auxiliary antenna to some types0
