I bought a honda crv new in 2003 it has been trouble free until about a month ago when the engine management light came on and the engine ticks over quite lumpy when slowing down I have to dip the clutch or change to a lower gear for fear of stalling, after a few miles when I park up go back to the car sometimes the light does not come back on and the car runs fine.Anyone give me advice on what may be the problem if it can be done by a novice and a rough cost.
Thanks in advance

fault could be anything from coil pack to an air leak.

RAC can do diagnostic tests free if you are a member. Will diagnose fault for you.

  • I had a 2003 honda and had problems with it slowing down whilst driving and the only way to get it going was to switch the engine off and one and re started i found out that it needed an oil and filter change but also needed flushing out first before new filter put on did have any problems after that.

I can't understand that - how dirty oil and filter can reduce the power of an engine in a way which is recoverable.
