I currently have internet explorer on my laptop, though I access the internet via my AOL homepage and not IE. However when I logged on to IE I got a message/homepage from browserchoice.eu entitled Information Regarding Web Browsers and gave me the option to install 12 different browsers, including IE8,Firefox,Mozilla,Safari,Opera etc.
Why did I get this message and which browser should I install?

Microsoft have been told they must offer a choice. This is why your message appeared. As for the browser, it's totally up to you.

I use Opera. I have never used chrome but have heard good things. If your going to use Firefox on a windows machine with any addons make sure your security is top notch, A lot of 3rd party add ons have security holes you can drive a bus through. Also the browser has had quite a few security issues in the past year0

Google chrome seems interesting.
If I install any of these browsers will it affect any of my settings, including favorites etc saved on my AOL homepage.?0 -
My ISP is also AOL but I do not use their Browser, and have not installed any AOL software (not needed).
I would suggest getting rid of all AOL software, install Firefox (or Browser of your choice) and use the email add-on to access your aol emails.0 -

Nope! It will probably ask if you'd like to import the settings and bookmarks into the new browser though.Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0 -

In Firefox Tools dropdown menu go to Add -Ons and install the Webmailnotifer Add-on. All you do is put in your AOL screen name and password and it retrieves your email (and anyone else in family who have AOL email) - No hassle, easy instructions.
I hated AOL browser, so slow, and having to sign in every time you opened the browser!!. If you move to firefox you won't regret it, IMO. I would suggest first downloading Firefox before you uninstall AOL and see what you think of it first.
You do not even have to uninstall AOL if you don't want to. After Firefox has installed use it to access Internet.0 -

Help menu - About Internet Explorer or else a little blue icon with a question mark (often to the right) and then "About Internet Explorer".
Edit: You can install more than one browser at once by the way. You could download Firefox, Chrome and Opera and try out all of them for a while simultaneously and see which one you like.0 -
Thanks,I think I'll try Firefox.0
