You phone them, same as any other breakdown policy

No need to phone them, you can arrange yourself.

So you had no trouble getting paid out then

Had 3 claims, paid out in around 10 days

I'd forgotten you can arrange your own help. It just seemed so much easier to call Autoaid and leave it all up to them.

Recovery, off motorway to home 30ish miles £70
Towed from motorway with caravan and fixed in service area £130
