Why did you apply for a job without any form of either research or experience? or am I the only one who would do that?

I didn't apply for this job.

The recruitment agency phoned me up and told me that there was this job going,
and asked if i wanted her to put my CV forward to the company to see if they would give me an interview.

And she just said that she worked for a recruitment agency, had seen my CV on reed (as its viewable by employers searching),
and as i have the A-level in travel&tourism which is required by this travel agency (which presumably had advertised through this recruitment agency), she wanted to know if id like to be put forward for it.

She read out teh job specifiacatiosn and salary,
and I could have said 'no thanks',
but i was curious about the job and had presumed that i could get a benefit to cover the gap.

:j I know this one...pick me, pick me!!! You will need to claim "greedy sod support for the totally ignorant" I think its a green application form that you have to fill out in red pen and then sing the responses to the advisor at your meeting.

on that salary you will get zero benefits, no tax credits, housing benefit or council tax benefit. And quite rightly so, its a wage most people can only dream of!

    Surely that cant be correct.

As when i passed the 12monts on jsa 1 of the forms i got i from the jobcentre with all those info leaflets you get about schemes and training courses being offered for free to you now,
was a form where you could request a better-of-on-benefits calculation.

And so if you get that done, and the job you are going for is less than benefits,
    presumably they will match it.

Otherwise what would be the point of them offering that form and service?

Karen is right. Why would you need benefits if you're brining home almost 30k per year?

no as you are earning 30k. Why on earth do you think you will get benefits on top of that? Benefits are for people on a low income. And that you are definatly not on.

Move to a cheaper house if you feel you need more money.

I'd love to see a politician try and justify the OP's benefits and how it is right for them to stay on them for as long as they feel like.

So you ask what you can claim and how but when you get toldnothing, you say that can't be right and proceed to answer your own question.

    Not very bright huh.

Having checked the OP's posting history, I have this to say: get a life you sad troll.

On April 17 he had been unemployed for 14 months (strange how two weeks later it's become 18 months!) and had been offered an internship. He also stated that he'd need a job paying close to 30K pa to match his benefits. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't 29.5K "close to 30K"?

Yea i can pay all my rent and bills from my jsa and lha, however in financial terms id need a job paying minimum close to 30k year to be able to just match them and afford to be able to take the job.

I checked entitled to and if i got a job paying a low wage like £7.50p/h or less i wouldnt qualify for any benefits,
and so wouldn't be able to afford it.

On April 18 he decided to vote Lib Dem because it puts an extra £70 in his wages!

    Liberal Democrats all the way!!

They are going to increase the earnings without paying any tax from 6.7k upto over 10k, which will mean that when i work il get to keep £70 extra cash per month out of my pay.

Because your rent is so high!

The answer if you really want to get back to work is to move to a slightly (?) cheaper area of London.

If you are offered this job on that salary then you have the potential to apply for jobs earning higher salaries in years to come, gain some self esteem and not rely on benefits.

Don't take the job and you are condemming yourself to a lifetime on benefits.

Its the rent you pay that is forcing you into this situation. Most workers couldn't afford that rent and would live further afield and commute to work. Its only those living on benefits who can afford the luxury of such high rent.
