DVLA medical - fitness to drive test? The answer to this will change my life!
Hi all.
This is REALLY REALLY important to me as without disclosing much - I PERSONALLY could end up changing a lot of people's lives if I can prove that a company's results are wrong (which I know they are)!
I am not questioning at all DVLAs results (in fact I totally agree with them)
My question is - my ex-partner wrote to the DVLA and told them that I was unfit to drive as I was drinking and driving all the time (this was mission number 12 to try and ruin my life - just prior to advising police that I was illegally bringing people into the country, single handedly supplying a certain part of the country with prositutes etc etc). Of course he was laughed at by the police and advised to go and get some kind of support.
But the DVLA - did act on it and I had to go and see a Doctor - he took my blood, asked some questions etc and then DVLA wrote to me and stated that I was fit to continue driving.
My question is - what do the DVLA test for? They took my blood so they were obviously checked if there was any alcohol in my system but would they have looked for extensive drinking, abstinence, drugs, anything??? Basically, I need to prove some other results are wrong from a different company, and I would be very grateful to advise the Court what the DVLA checked for and if they see me fit to drive then this other small company's claims need to be questioned seriously.
I will go into more detail if need be.
many thanks

Use the data protection act to get all the information the DVLA and your doctor hold on you.0

thanks Huggy - I though i would have had some more responses. It was a DVLA doctor - I assume his report and results would be part of the DVLA information then? Thanks very muchTotal Quidco earnings - £547.98

Chris I am in a contact battle for my daughter and I had to do a hair strand testing to prove I was no drinking at all or excessively - it came back clear - Feb 09 - in Feb 09 DVLA also did a test as you will have read - my ex wrote to them saying I was drink driving (!). The test from them also stated that I was fit to drive.
My ex - then made the accusation some 2 months later and yet again, I had to go through another hair strand testing with a different company - this came back that I had been "excessively drinking" for 6 months (which overlapped with the other 2 previous clear tests from separate companies - this is absolutely wrong!!!!
the only thing that my solicitor, My Gp, and myself can conclude is that because I have cervical sponylosis and have constant cortisone injections - that that in someway has affected the results of the last test.
I am desperate to prove to the court that I do not drink (and have not for over 4 years now) - so I am trying to prove to them that the results from company 3 are wrong.
Interesting also - that because results 3 were positive - I had to undergo another test in march and that has come back clear (I had no cortisone in this period).
Because results 3 were positive - contact with my daughter has been limited to a contact centre so I am determined to win this fight - I don't care what it costs me as I KNOW the results of test 3 were wrong.
So to summarise
1. Hair strand testing dated Feb 09 - stated "No signs of any alcohol consumption for previous 6 months).
2. DVLA - medical test dated Feb 09 - stated Fit to drive
3. Hair strand testing (from different company - dated April 09 - states "excessive alcohol consumption for 6 months)
4, Hair strand testing (same company as number 3) dated March 2010 - states "no alcohol consumption).
Any futher advice or help would be gratefully appreciated.

My apologies, I didn't mean to drag your personal life into it, it simply didn't make much sense to me from the opening post.
Good luck with your contact struggle.0 -
Thats ok chris - I just am determined to prove this company wrong - I am paying privately so had to pay them £1000 for them to come back with false results. Not only has this had an impact on my life - this will have an impact on a lot of other families around the country in contact struggles. Watch this space! xTotal Quidco earnings - £547.98

When the doctor took your blood, did you happen to notice how many tubes he took and what colour the lids on the tubes were? Was this an NHS doctor or private?
Even without the DVLA test, test #3 is directly contradictory to test #1 as there is a 4 month overlap period. Tests 2 and 4 just further reinforce that #3 was a false positive. It happens, results get mixed up in the lab, the tests aren't 100% reliable etc. etc.
If I'm sticking my nose in too far, feel free to tell me to get lost, but when he made the other ridiculous allegations against you, did the police actually make a log of the allegations and can you or your lawyer get a hold of them.
Obviously I'm only hearing one side of the story here but if you have the evidence to back up in court what you have said here then your ex partner will come across as mentally unstable and from there I'm sure you'd win any contact or custody battle, not to mention damages for harassment, cost of test #4. You'd probably also get a restraining order thrown in for good measure.
Good luck and do let us know how you get on. People like your ex really wind me up and what he is doing is detrimental to the child as well as yourself.0 -
Hi Lum - I think he took 3 vials one was red - was one green? To be honest I cant really remember, It was a private Doctor - it was the one who the DVLA listed on their letter to me!
I have already told the Court that we disagree with the tests so they told us to write to the company and give them chance to prove their finding "a finding of fact hearing". they stood by their results and my solicitor has said that it is going to cost a lot of money for me to disprove it by getting medico-legal advice - but surely this is now proof.
to be honest - I had completely forgotten about the DVLA test until yesterday when I saw a thread on here - so it prompted me to look in my diary etc etc and BINGO!
I assume the police made logs of the allegations - last time they came to my house they said "sorry we're here again" took a statement and left. My solicitor is currently in the process of getting all this proof so we can take it back to Court in june and do as you advise also.
To be honest - he is a very strange man my ex - I recorded a telephone conversation with him 2 weeks ago (one of the only times he actually answered his phone). I had to ask for contact to be changed only slightly and he just ranted and raved for over 1/2 hour. So I have had that put onto CD and have sent it to my solicitor.
My little girl is going to be mentally disturbed if he carries on like this - she said to me on saturday "my daddy doesnt love you - and he doesn't love me". What is he doing to her - only god knows - that's why I am determined Lum to fight and fight for her with every last breath in my body
The one thing that I believe is that what goes around comes around - he was delighted with test number 3 results - but it was him who called the DVLA and thanks to him - I now have proof that number 3 results are wrong!
thanks for your advice - anymore is welcome!Total Quidco earnings - £547.98

Here is a chart that explains what the colours mean. It's an international standard.

I'm told that that the green one that tests blood plasma could be used to test for alcohol as the alcohol dissolves into the plasma.0 -
Have you simply tried contacting the doctor who took the blood? It would be unreasonable of them not to tell you what they tested for, though I guess they may charge a fee for a detailed report.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0
