    Morning!

Hope no-one minds but I'm going to copy my post about the birth from the 'I gave birth...' thread onto here. I know it's nothing to do with money saving, but it would be nice to have a record of it here too.
    Hellooooooo!

I'm just in the process of uploading a few photos, so I'll pop those on in a minute, but thought I'd do a quick update first - it was just too much of a pain to type long messages from my mobile and the battery gave up half way through the day!

Anyway, I was lying in bed in the early hours of yesterday (was it only yesterday...wow!) morning, suddenly thought 'Oooh, feel a bit odd', had 3 contractions in about 6 minutes and thought 'nah...can't be....contractions don't START 2 minutes apart, do they?'. Then I felt a 'pop', and realised I was (**TMI ALERT**) pouring fluids all over the place.

Rang delivery suite 'what colour is the liquid Mrs Snaggles'.....'Um, it's a bit greenish'......'Okay, come straight in and we'll have a look at you'.

We got SIL to come straight over to look after DS, got in the car and set off (false start when we realised we'd forgotten the maternity notes and had to come back home.........wasn't impressed as contractions every 2 minutes still, although managing to control the pain by breathing steadily and not panicking).

The contractions were coming a minute apart and lasting almost a minute by the time we arrived at hospital - a nurse took pity on me and got a porter to take me to delivery suite in a wheelchair as walking was getting tricky. Had a bit of gas and air while they examined me.... 'Mrs Snaggles, you're fully dilated ( ALREADY?????), are you feeling the urge to push'.....'um, not sure....'

Then a bit of a panic because the baby's heart rate started dropping quite badly so I had to start pushing straight away (as it happened, I found out pretty much immediately what the urge to push felt like....wow, it's WEIRD isn't it??????? )

The head crowned and I was pushing as hard as I could but it was taking a few minutes to deliver the head and they were a bit worried that we didn't have a few minutes because of her heart rate, so I had an episiotomy and she flew out with the next push, cord wrapped round her neck and body (hence the heart rate problem). They unravelled her and she started breathing unaided straight away, and her heart rate came back to normal without them needing to do anything.

My waters broke at 2am and I gave birth at 3.24am, so technically it was less than an hour and a half, (I think I said the labour was 2 hours, but that was from when I started feeling a bit odd, not from my waters going).

It hurt like hell, but it was sort of amazing at the same time, a totally different experience to last time. I'm so happy I can't stop smiling!
