I once phoned an ex at work, left a message with the woman in reception (loved to gossip) that I was calling from the STD clinic and he needed to get in touch urgently.... but that's a whole new subject:rotfl:

Oh no, you'll be saying it's my fault if you fail your exam! :rotfl:

Happy studying - good luck for tomorrow x

Thanks! I think if I fail it might just be the fact that it really is quite a boring language (thank god for MSE anonymity, other linguists could hunt me down and batter me to death with dictionaries for that comment :rotfl:) and I was quite pants at it from the start

It'd be an interesting extenuating circumstances form though: "I feel I did not perform as well as I could have because a woman I've never met went into labour over the internet..." :o

What is it you're studying Tumbleweed? I studied French at university, and found it very hard going. I loved learning the language, but the course was heavily literature based, and the books were all a bit dull and worthy. I really wanted to do more of the linguistics side, the origins of the language, the grammar etc.

Snaggles, one of these days you must explain to me the art of meal planning.

I just cant do it. Hubby works nights so eats in the morning, I work days and eat at normal time. The kids very rarely eat what we eat, so its a bit of a disaster really.

Any tips would be very much appreciated
Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches

I'm only just really starting doing it to be honest, but I find I can stick to a budget much more easily if I do. But I'm not too strict with it, if I don't fancy something, I swap it around or make something else as long as none of the ingredients for what I HAD planned will go off.

It must be difficult having to cook different things at different times though, I do sympathise with you!

I have a freezer and cupboard full of food, yet still find myself going up and down the Tesco aisled on a Saturday, spending money I dont need to.

I seem to have an inbuilt fear of running out of food, not sure why.

Either that or I'm addicted to food shopping

I only plan simple meals too, because I'm not a great cook - if it takes more than 30 minutes to prepare, I know I'll end up thinking 'I can't be bothered'.

I'm sort of compiling a list as I go along of all the things I can cook, so that if I'm stuck for ideas I can just look at the list for inspiration - I think I might have pinched that idea from IA's thread.
