I honestly can't believe I never thought of that, thanks! How silly am I??? I'll definitely do that on Wednesday, the midwife will be stunned!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Right, money update time:
Shopping - £66.51
Petrol - £0 (none needed until at least the weekend hopefully)
Overall spend £66.51. Total spend so far this month £151.43
Budget remaining £198.57
-£40 approx needed for petrol
= £158.57
We do our weekly shop every weekend, and there's 3 weekends left until payday, so that gives us £52.85 per week, which doesn't sound too bad. We've got quite a lot of food in, so I'm going to do a meal plan next to make sure we're not wasting anything."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

Meal plan for this week:
Monday
Gammon for hubby/ds (Quorn sausages for me), carrots, sweetcorn, croquette potatoes and gravy (must remember to wash that jug)
Tuesday
Pasta & quorn (again ) bolognaise sauce
Wednesday
Chicken, salad, new potatoes
Thursday
Jacket potatoes and beans, salad
Friday
Fish, oven chips, peas
Saturday
Quorn curry & rice (there's a rogan josh cook-in sauce lurking in the cupboard which needs using)
Does that seem well balanced? Maybe it'll be a bit heavy if the weather stays nice, but we'll have to resist the lure of the bbq and use what we've already got in I think."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Things I have found in the cupboard that need using if anyone can suggest meal ideas for next week:
Bulgar wheat
Dried lentils
Split peas (dried)
Noodles
Cous Cous
Maybe I should pay a visit to the old style boards for some inspiration!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
There was a lovely recipe involving bulgar wheat in the Guardian saturday magazine a few weeks ago, republished here ...

I'm hoping this is leading up to him publishing a book as all the recipes he's published in the column so far are delicious.Debt Oct 2005: £32,692.94

That sounds really nice Tondella - I'm not convinced hubby or ds would be keen, but I could just cook it and put it in front of them and see what happens!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Yes please Bunny, I've got a big bag of rice in the cupboard at the moment, and I love avocado. How are you doing today?"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250
