I am in a similar situation to this....am currently with Virgin phone but have Sky TV and broadband. I was told that I couldn't go from Virgin to Sky but on a trip to a different city last week I was told by a Sky salesman that I can bypass BT and go to Sky. Should I tell Sky I'll move my TV and broadband to Virgin if they won't take my phone? Would Sky care?
VM cable service, or Virgin National phone? No free lunch, and no free laptop

If you have Sky (ADSL) broadband, you must have an ordinary landline (Virgin cable only carries Virgin cable broadband, not other providers' ADSL broadband).Says Virgin Media on the bill.....
Do you pay line rental to BT or Sky?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Might possibly have VM cable phone and Sky broadband on an ADSL line as well though Heinz?

Right, yes, I need to explain further. We have a business line with BT which is how we could get Sky broadband. We run a busines from our home. We also have a 'home' phone which is Virgin Media - it's this line that I want to change to Sky telephone. Sorry, my bad.0 -
So you need to find out if your Virgin line is cable service or Virgin National service. You cannot have any other service than VM on cable-there are no other providers.
Does your VM phone terminate in a cable box or a BT master socket? No free lunch, and no free laptop

It goes into a box on the wall that says Cable and Wireless. It gets more complicated, doesn't it!!
Can you put your postcode into the checker on this link?
http://allyours.virginmedia.com/websales/service.do?id=2
That will tell you if you can get cable in your area. If you can't then obviously it is a BT line.
Is there a larger external termination box on the outside wall where the service enters the property? No free lunch, and no free laptop
