Is everyone using the proper Epson cartridges or refills/compatibles? I had loads of probs with ink, when I went back to the Epson ink it all worked fine.

I am using comaptible cartridges and all the other colours are printing ok.

Did your printer work staight away as soon as you put an epson cartridge in?

  • if you are having problems with the cleaning cycles not working it might be that the cleaning mechanism itself is clogged up. This is usually on the right hand side when u open up the lid (after u have moved the print heads out of the way). have a look with a torch and see if its bunged up.

if it's clogged up you will need something like a solvent cleaner to get it off (my sisters nail polish remover usually does the trick lol). I wouldn't try this unless you are confident about having a go and don't mind being coated in ink lol

    Hope this helps

Thanks Tony for your advice.  I intend to give it a try.  Just one thing  - how do you move the print heads out of the way?  According to my printer manual you should not move them by hand.  They will move if I start the replace cartridge process but this means the printer is switched on and I don't fancy poking around in it whilst switched on.

  • Erb,

the easiest way of doing this is to pull out the power lead when the print heads are in the replacement position. It is not a good to move it by hand lol

I hope this works out :)

    CANON i455 Printer

Having had lines on everything I printed on my last printer I got the Canon i455 and I think it's great.
Really simple - which suits me - and I can get ink cartridges at Computer Fairs for about £2 each - and they last quite a long time. I paid about £65 for it
I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
I'm not losing my hair... I'm getting more head!!

    Tony.
Thanks Tony I tried this tonight but unfortunately it did not work for me :(. Then tried another 5 print head cleans but this ran the black ink cartridge down from from 50% full to 10% :o:'(. Next I have ordered a genuine Epson cartridge to see if troo's suggestion works. Next installment when this arrives ;).

have you tried placing the printer cartridge into hot water/vinegar.

leave for 1 minute, you should see the ink start to come through into the water.

I have done this a couple of times on mine.
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)

    Troo,

    Thanks for your suggestion.

I have now tried a genuine Epson cartridge but it is still not printing blue so now I am feeling blue  :'(.  Looks as though I will need a new printer but it will not be an Epson, probably a Canon.

Thanks to everybody who tried to help.
    Regards
