I have had to try again for the comp on Facebook, for the iPod. A lovely lad called Andrew was also going for it and got quite few votes quick. I messaged him to tell him that I would stop getting votes so he could get it that week and I would try again this week. He says he'll help me get votes further into this week which is lovely Anyway I was wondering if people on facebook will vote for it again for me on this link:

This snippet of code reads the main "index" (page 1) of the comp forum... parsing names of threads and their links is then just as easy... it could index the whole comp forum in a few seconds and then never need to check any of those posts again (it could even share the posts easily via a P2P link so that only one person ever needs to check the forum unless a discrepency arose between peers, which would be handled automatically)

Its basically a way of making the web distributed and so almost eliminating the cost of servers. This is a more localised / specialised implementation, however, the same system can be used to distribute any website and still have it update from the main "source" if it changes.

Trammel - I can see where you are coming from here - you are looking to start entering comps & as an IT person you are looking at the most logical way to do this with the greatest efficiency.
I'm not very good with code as this isn't my particular background but can see that what you are trying to do will probably work very well for you but................

and I mean this in the nicest possible way:D

That's not really why most of as here... this is a support group, a hobby group, free counselling, a good laugh, a chance to meet other like minded people & a lot more

9 out of 10 days (at least) I don't win anything but Korky might or sweetie might, plushy, MD, laks etc or someone posts up their first win ever & most of genuinely get great joy reading this:j:j

I also don't see (but as I said this isn't my strong point) how you could write script to answer the questions most comps ask before you can enter

eg Who was the cutest member of boyzone? without all posters agreeing to answer in a pre agreed format which just wouldn't work:(

Hope you don't mind me saying this & I'm sure your format will work for you if you are just interested in entering comps but to most of us it's the banter in the Inn , the IWIWIW thread & the general feeling of cameradie that brings us on here day in day out;)
