Interesting... I'm a FTB in the process of buying - had an offer accepted and moving towards completion. There was no gas certificate in the HIP and the Home Buyer's Survey said there was no evidence of a gas inspection/survey being done in the last two years.
Arranging a boiler service was on the list of things to do when I move in and I hadn't even thought about asking the vendor to do it. I wonder if I should - the boiler is only a few years old and I'm just worried that if I ask them to arrange the service then it will just slow things down. Hmmm....0 -
Why on earth is this thread continuing?
Either buy the house as is or send in your own professionals to check boiler, electrics, damp whatever. Or walk away.
Get on with it!0 -
We're not trying to cause a fuss, as i mentioned we're FIRST TIME buyers, so haven't done this before and was just wondering if it was something a vendor had to provide, as it doesn't seem to be, we'll prob just get somebody to have a look to make sure everything seems fine, especially as the boiler is in the loft and don't think thats the usual place to site one. Thanks for all the advice everybody, i'm sure the next time we buy a house we'll know more stuff and won't have to ask silly questions
I'm a FTB too and its hard to know what is /isn't important!! People saying its standard doesn't always ease the headache when you're about to make the biggest financial commitment of your life so far!! I ask stupid questions all the time- need to for my own peace of mind. GOOD LUCK0 -
I really would ask for one. FTB or not until you wee money you should do as much as you can to avoid unnecessary expense.
Buying a house is a huge committment - and having a working boiler or at least knowing it's on it's last legs is useful.0
