Hi all, just wondering if anyone here had an iPod disco for their wedding? We're having one and I was just looking for some hints/tips and any advice generally! Thanks

I'm sorry but please could you explain what one is? Is it like a silent disco?0

Do you mean just an ipod pumping out some music (through a sound system of sorts) or a DJ with an ipod disco set up?
One thing about the former is that it can't in anyway be reactive to the crowd, so worth really thinking about the music0 -
No, it's where you don't have a dj but put the music together yourself in advance and play it from an iPod or laptop or whatever.0

As my earlier comment then.
Are you making up your own playlist(s)?
Can be fun but can take forever to compile.
Are you just plugging into the venue's sound system?0 -
Yeah we're making our own playlist, the plan is to get all the bridesmaids and groomsmen together and do it over an evening. The venue has a sound system that we can plug into so that's not a problem, just getting a bit anxious about the amount of work involved, like you said!0

Good luck!
I would suggest you just agree the playlist and then get one person to compile it when they will not be interrupted.0 -
Check the venue allows it. We're using the venues inhouse DJ, but we have noticed in some venues T & C state that iPod discos are not allowed, nor are DJs who do not have liability insurance and PAT equipment.:kisses2: Got married September 2011:smileyhea

Thanks Martine, they venue are fine with it, in fact the wedding co ordinater mentioned that their in house dj gets very little work these days because such a lot of couples prefer to do it this way! We do have to get the iPod tested by an electronics shop and let them have the certificate before the day though. It's half cost saving and half wanting a certain type of music really for us.0 -
I went to an Ipod wedding 2 years ago and honestly it sucked.
As someone else said if you just have it playing it can't read the crowd. In this case they allowed people to touch it and people changed mid song, there were huge gaps between songs, it was really bad.
There were only 5 of us on the dance floor and I felt horrible for the bride as she spent forever doing the playlist AND she is a professional dancer and dancing is important to her.
If you can swing it I would hire a DJ.0
