Help regarding easyjet!!

Hi, just been informed my flight has been "cancelled due to operational reasons"

And moved to one the following day, which is coincidentally their "lowest fare" flight, and at a very awkward time. Thomson claim the holiday will be moved to Friday to Friday instead of Thursday to Thursday. But. I don't see why they can't elaborate on the "operational reasons".

Am I eligible for any sort of compensation as a result of this?

Also, i have just leaned that as a result of them moving the holiday to Friday to Friday and giving us the 00:35 Low Fare flight on the Friday means we lose a night of our holiday!! Not happy with that one bit

Perhaps they will. Have you asked them?

Couple of questions before I offer any advice:

Is this a 'proper' package holiday i.e. you have only been quoted a single price for the whole holiday or are you aware of the individual component costs?

What date are you booked to depart?

Booked to leave on the 6th of May

Were quoted a single price for the hotel and flight.
Transfer & ABTA protection were itemised on the invoice.

Original flight times were early morning, now there all later ones.
I think this would reduce the overall cost of the package.

Thomson claim I would get the difference back, but I am not so sure.
Also, I have booked a taxi to get us to and from the airport. Of which I can't just cancel and rebook as they probably won't do it without me losing money

Changes to timings will be covered in the booking conditions.

Read up and see if they have done everything in accordance with the ts + cs.

(Operational reasons could be they haven't sold enough seats and are consolidating your flight with the next days)

I'm confused, how can you have booked the holiday with thomson and be flying easyjet? Thomson have their own airline and on the rare occasion they use other carriers I have never known them to use easyjet?

Was this booked via a company who make up a package out of separate components on your behalf?

I'd have thought that you were entitled to something under the 'major changes to your holiday' section of the t+c's as they are changing the dates, but that very much depends on exactly how you booked and who with.

The holiday is provided by Olympic Holidays who use EasyJet as a charter flight. Thomson sold the olympic holiday to me as an agent

Olympic ts & cs provide for some compensation if they change your departure time by 12 hours or more.

Read up the conditions and decide what you want to do (accept the change and the compensation or cancel and get your money back in full).

You should have been given them when you booked.

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm not sure whether your claim lies with thomson as they're the agent or with olympic holidays.

The most olympic holidays will pay you is £25pp if they notified you today, £20pp if this was yesterday - scroll to the bottom of this link http://www.olympicholidays.com/information/terms_and_conditions.asp

If you can claim on thomsons t+c's you are entitled to slightly more - £40pp if advised of this change today, £30pp if you were told yesterday - see here about a third of the way down http://www.thomson.co.uk/thomson/page/tandc/tandc.page?depDate=2009-05-01&accommInvSys=TPP&flightInvSys=TPP&lang=en

I'd contact Thomson who booked the holiday for you as a first point of contact and see what they say.

If I was you I would also check how much the holiday costs with those flights/other companies as this is a major change to your holiday and you are entitled to reject the changes and have a full refund. You might be able to get the same holiday as a late deal at a much lower price, so in that case get the money back and re-book :) Seeing as they have offered you a night flight I'd think you could have a good chance of getting it cheaper so definately have a look.
