The OP did leave themselves open to silly comments on the basis that they didnt actually specify what advice they wanted.

Given they have received compensation equal to several times the value of the item bought when no ill effects were actually had I think the only thing they can really do is commend the person that has dealt with the issue for them

    Agree with taxiphil!!

If your post isn't going to help answer the OP, keep the sarchastic reply to yourself!

OP, do you know what the lump was? If it was just a lump of the flavouring as I have found in crisps before now then I would say £3 is compensation enough.

If it was a lump of metal or soil or something though then i'd write them a letter.

Letters usually get a better response to a complaint than e-mails do!!

Do you know what the lump was? Could it have been dangerous?

If it could have been dangerous, then (assuming you still have the packet) go to Trading Standards. It could have been a child that had found it, then people would be reacting very differently.

Edit: Sorry Morph3us, our messages crossed!

And I've found that this site, lately, is being used by alot of people who react with rather unpleasant, sarcastic and hostile comments when somebody shares their complaint with other consumers.

Dont you think thats because its a direct result of the type of complaints that are being posted? Most people will advise about something important.

I've been reading posts on here for a long long time althought I only registered to post not so long ago. People used to post with serious consumer problems and they had problems that caused loads of worry or hassle for them. People were only too glad to help if they could, it was interesting to read and was sometimes useful too.

The last wee while theres been a huge jump in complaints about trivial stuff - everything from getting wet to the wrong chocolate in their selection box! Theres a difference between a nation of savvy consumers and a nation of whingers.

The OP didnt make out that the lump was anything untoward, if he or she had said it was a rats head or a piece of metal or something then that would have been different. if it had been anything nasty im sure they would have said so loud and clear and then the advice would have been more constructive.

Sorry if some feel i was too harsh but i do honestly think common sense goes out the window and some people need a shake sometimes.

The situation is as the situation is,no point in saying what if this had happened or what if that had hapenned. it didnt!

yeh i agree. The original poster gave a short vague question, to which others are supposed to help with. They have already had compensation..if they felt it want sufficient then they should have declined it and took it up further.

As others have said, it seems people post up their small problems without even thinking for themselves 1st, rather let others sort their problems out.

Sorry to littlereddevil for going off on a tangent to the original post but we need more info...what hould you do with what exactly??? the vouchers..the lump etc???

Also with regards to "a lot more needless posts" coming up.. i dont think theres that many but the ones there are stand out, thus seeming a bigger issue than it really is.
This forum is here to help ppl with their problems not to fix their problems for them (else they would never learn)

Perhaps the OP wasn't trying to "make money" out of Somerfield, but was wondering if £3 in vouchers is proportional response for something that could have been a serious public safety issue. I would have liked a bit more information from the OP about the "lump" in the crisps, but don't like the way people jump to the conclusion that it was a lump of something harmless, like crumbs.

The OP said they found a 'lump' not a chunk of metal, a dead badger or a lucky rabbits foot. So they made it obvious it wasn't toxic or dangerous. Then they went sarcastic by complaining about the amount of compensation, at least 10 times the cost of the packet of crisps.
