    Good afternoon: forget the PTFE...Loctite 55 is a superior product for threading. Might want to get a tube of this for your tool box as well.;)

    Probably best to get someone else to turn the water on whilst you stay in the bathroom, if you can that is.

    No.

    There are 2 types of thread in plumbing.

    Taper thread & Parrellel Treads

    You put the PTFE where the seal is.

    On a taper thread the thread is the seal.

    On a parrellel thread the seal is is where the olive meets the fitting & pipe or the washer meets the fitting. So putting PTFE on a parrellel thread doesnt help form a seal it just helps fill a channel full of gunk & it is hit or miss whether it will permanently stop a leak or not...
