Serious Financial Hardship, please help

Hi all,

here's hoping i can get some advice. I receved this letter from Barclays this morning. First part was "Sorry you're in financial hardship, we'll pass it on to a specialist department for advice and support." blah blah blah!

"You should have received a letter advising you that we are not upholding your complaint about bank charges ( i did not receive any letter) and will not be refunding any charges. This complaint is now closed."

Now, some background i applied and filled out the hardship form for £262 near the end of last year just before the court judgement and they duly paid up.

This reclaim i detailed in a letter and if any thing my hardship has got much worse, a total of £526 over the last 6 months. I KNOW that i qualify on many different aspects of the financial hardship claim. I am disabled, accumulated more than £500 of charges in 6 months. Bailiffs visits for unpaid council tax etc.

Can someone please tell me what my next step would be? I know i have to fight this but how?

Thanks in advance.

I would you speak to the banks "specialist department for advice and support".

As you have already had some charges already refunded because of financial hardship, yet you have continued to amass new ones, then they probably believe that simply offering a refund is not helping you and so you perhaps need a different method of help.

Write to them again with an income and expenditure form. Explain what has happened in the last 6 months to reduce further your income, for example, did the refund actually make any difference to your hardship.
One question remains, what has caused the charges themselves? Are they for using the Personal Reserve?
I would perhaps pop onto the Debt Free Wannabe board as well and get some advice from them perhaps about moving your money from Barclays to another bank and setting in place repayment plans....
I guess depending on the answers will depend on how you approach your bank really.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
