First it was them ringing and asking for the deposit, when we had paid it over a week before.
Then it was the promise of a certain room, which we now know we can't have. (so had to rearrange the whole ceremony and now we're having it at the reg office)
Then we went for our meeting, and a week later someone telephoned and asked us if we were ready to arrange our meeting.
Then the paperwork had my name spelt wrong.
Then the prices of the food were wrong on the contract sent out to us and when I telephoned I was told the VAT had gone back up (which was a complete lie)
Now what's happened, OH went a couple of weeks ago to pay some money off the balance. I asked him to ask for a receipt. He only got a card machine receipt, so he asked for a proper receipt to be sent out. It didn't arrive. I rang last Friday and asked if one had been sent out. Was told they would get another one out that day.
Still hadn't had one today so rang up and they have only been sending them to the old bloody address
OH had changed the address with them ~ I was told on the phone that there are 2 separate parts for our booking, and one hadn't been updated.
No sorry ~ nothing. Apart from "it should have been updated but it wasn't"
I really don't give a !!!!!! anymore.
I feel like scrapping the venue all together, but we can't be bothered with all the hassle of looking for something else.
Is it just me or are they taking the pish?

That's what OH suggested.
I thought of writing a letter to say how unhappy we are with the way everything has been dealt with, then outlining all the mistakes they have made and telling them we have lost faith in them so how can we trust them to get everything right on the day.
Don't know which is best to be honest.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I would go a bit more softly softly, we're having troubles with our venue and I am normally a matter of fact get it sorted kinda gal but realised this is the one time that I don't care about getting money back or a reduction or a free return visit, or even an apology. I just want it to be right on the day. And if you are too heavy handed (much as I hate to admit it) it could backfire on you.
You have had almost identical problems to us. I have rang the manager, just very gentley explained I have some concerns over the day and the organisation of it, could he book out 2 hours in his diary so we can come in, and go through everything with a tooth comb from start to finish so everyone knows what's happening.
We're going in tonight so I'll let you know if it worked but I've put a fair amount of thought into it and can't see a better way really.
Good luck though however you decide to handle it. Hope it works out for youBump due 22nd September0 -
I think face to face is better because he can just laugh at a letter and fob you off. It's harder to fob you off face to face

Agreed.
Make an appointment to see the manager. Only the manager. Not his wedding planning minions (who obviously cant do their job)
I would go with the softly softly approach too, afterall, you dont want them taking revenge on your wedding day if you've hacked them off. Just put your point across gently and make sure everything you want has been discussed and understood by them. Get anything agreed in writing.:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0 -
They are taking the Pish! When I had similar problems we arranged a meeting and although we were very polite, we were also very firm and clear that the mistakes that were being made, were making us feel as though we couldn't have confidence in them to organise the day properly and therefore we were considering cancelling altogether. Since then they have been much better!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

Thanks guys, we'll make an appointment to see them then.
It's a woman by the way, had to re-read my post because most of you have assumed it's a bloke lol
Franny, we said to them the last time the c0cked up that we didn't have confidence with them, and even asked them if they definitely had us booked in for our date (taking the pish, but seeing as though we were asked to come for a meeting when we'd already had it...well...)
Hayley, good luck tonight, let us know how you get on! xxTank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

We have a similar thing, nothing too serious but our contract arrived in the post today after we paid the deposit last Friday.
Here was the email I was going to send.
Hixxxxx,
We’ve received the contract today. It is generally accurate but we have noticed a couple of discrepancies between that and what was originally discussed prior to the deposit being paid.
From our conversation on 10th April and 23rd April the price for a standard room appears to have changed from £59 including breakfast to £65, and the family rooms appear to have increased from £69 to £85.
Also there is a ceremony cost of £200 that appears on the contract. This was not on the original estimate, nor has been mentioned prior to the deposit being paid.
What do I do/ask? That these are returned to their original values?
The original estimate did not include a ceremony fee of £200 nor was there any mention of one but it did include a 10% discount off food and beverages total = £3969
The contract adds the £200 ceremony fee but has a 10% discount on the whole lot total = £4048
So overall the increase is only £79 but it is an increase! Whats the best thing to say?:kisses2: Got married September 2011:smileyhea

£79 is £79! Plus, the contract should exactly reflect anything you have agreed previously otherwise what is the point of all the negotiations in the first place???
I would suggest a simple phone call with a request for a new contract should be the best, with a follow up email outlining the discussion (and proof for later if required)
Although keep in mind this is from someone who argued with a mobile phone company for 5 mins over a £1.50 charge for a service that was never received....:p
Hope that helps!0
