Micro irrigation systems

Hi everyone,

Newbie here so please be gentle :D

I'm looking into buying a watering system this year for my hanging baskets and pots as I'm useless at watering regularly :o

Are any systems better than other/ better value for money, I'm guessing buying a kit would be the best/ cheapest way? Also, how easy are they to install? The hozelock aquapod looks good but won't be any good for the hanging/ wall plants as the micro cable is only 1M long :(

I'm looking at approx 10 hanging baskets/ wall planters and 10 pots on the patio.

Thanks in advance!
Sara

I can tell you that you get what you pay for, I've tried a couple of those cheap kits you get and they are total rubbish.
Either buy a good one, or learn to water every day.

I am going to follow this, as I am very interested in getting one myself to take care of my plants when I am away (OH is no use). I am considering Hazelock Deluxe Auto Kit, but I am not sure if it works - any opinions/experiences would be great to hear...

In my case it would be great to be able to use it whilst on holiday and such...

Lotuseater, what make/ type would you consider a good one?

Sorry, I have just been looking at Aquapods and you can get extension kit for hanging baskets, it is called "Plus Wall", I think. See it here:

Well that I don't know, but certainly something with a good name. Someone else will give you good advice on a decent one. Just don't be tempted by a cheap one!

    Hi
A friend uses a self set up using Gardena micro irrigation and has had it for 5 years with no problems (it is not cheap though)- if you look here there's a little planner that works out what you need GARDENA Micro-Drip-System Planner - I guess you can then look for cheapest suppliers online or look at other products people are recommending using that information.
Gardena Micro Drip Starter Set With Timer 1398 - £59.99 RRP £99.99 SAVE £40.00 % Looks like a good offer and you can add as you need
Greyer by the minute - Older by the hour - Wiser by the day

The aqua pod unit are great for three for bargin prices last year from B&Q but I think you'd be better off with a kit like this http://www.garden4less.co.uk/hozelock-automatic-watering-kit-deluxe-20.asp.

As other said I would go for either aqua pod or Gardena micro pods.
