Zipcar-Streetcar merger, deals no longer valid

This is a bit of a rant really, but it seems Zipcar have recently bought out Streetcar (both car-sharing schemes) and to register for Zipcar you now get redirected to Streetcar. On the Zipcar website it says:

"Have a promo code? No worries, Streetcar will honour it."

This is, unfortunately, a lie. I tried to register using the deal at park-up.com - a reduced annual fee of £25 plus £50 free driving credit, but after talking to the Streetcar sales guy's supervisor I was told they won't honour the offer and said they could give me £25 credit but wanted the full £69 for the annual fee. No sale.

I tried it now and it still seems to work. Make sure you click the banner on park-up.com which should redirect you to an 'occasional driving plan' page on zipcar.co.uk, then click 'join' to start the sign up process.

    Hi 'wlf',

I was interested in the same offer by Zipcar (£25 annual fee for an 'occasional driving plan').
But note that this is valid only with Zipcar's network, which tends to be in central locations.
In my case, Zipcar doesn't have any nearby locations (excluding Streetcar at present).
On the other hand, Streetcar does, but charges £59.50 / yr.
The customer service rep told me the details of how the 2 companies will interact/honour respective deals etc, has not been determined yet.
As a general guideline she recommended to join Streetcar if its cars were closer.
It was announced Streetcar will be progressively moved to the Zipcar brand in the coming months.
So if you're willing to take a punt and join Zipcar in the hope management will be generous and expand the car base to Streetcar's network without additional charge, then this could be a bargain. I'll err on the cautious side and wait for the situation to clarify.

    Hi,

I've just joined Streetcar recently using a code which gives you £30 free driving credit to use for bookings.

I presume it is still working now, but can't be sure.

I cant post the link here so PM for the code if you want to give it a go.

:money: The top amount you get get at the moment is £20, although you may be able to haggle on the phone - £30 discount codes don't exist and you'll still only get £20, but you wont realise until you've already signed up :money:
