I've recently upgraded to this account and am very pleased with £5.00 going into my account every month on an account which was previously earning a lot less than £1 per month.

I haven't read all the negative posts about this account, but it's £60 per year going into my account, so I'm very pleased with that!

Very MSE in my humble opinion... :money:

Do the cashiers give each other a high five after they tell a customer they're not getting their £5?

A lot of age-based pensions pay the day before one's birthday. My birthday falls on the 2nd of the month, so my pension always appears on the 1st (unless, of course, that isn't a traditional banking day!) The real absurdity is that some internet banking isn't 24/7 but 24/5.
This problem applies not only to Halifax but to Lloyd's Vantage - and no doubt to other accounts. But many of these accounts operate Faster Payments. If one has lots of these accounts (as some MSE users recommend) one just moves a lot of money round in circles at the start of the month. If you're not using Halifax as a main account, the £1000 only has to be in the account for two or three minutes.
