Santander!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Useless sods

Partner tried to pay £280 into my Lloyds account last night from her santander account for a holiday we are going on tomorrow night/early friday.
Yet they have advised her today (when we noticed it hadn't gone into my account) that it will take 4 days. Yet I have to pay the remaining holiday amount (her half) off today.
They are saying the payment cannot be done instantly, and has already left her account but will take 4 days. They claim there is no way to reverse it, they are saying "go to the branch" and then saying "it can't be reversed"
Does anybody know of this happening, and CAN anything be done? This is quite urgent, were supposed to fly tomorrow.

Unfortunately Santander don't do faster payments AFAIK they are still working on implementing them, and I don't think a BACS payment can be recalled. I'm afraid you've fallen victim to Santander's rubbishness0

Sorry to hear of your woes, sadly you are one of the many people who have had a bad experience with Santander. All you can do is put this down to experience and then change banks after your holiday.
Personally I would not entertain a bank without FP. All the best.Money is a wise mans religion0 -
All they could say was "We could of paid it had it been going to a Santander account". Yeah, thanks for that !!!!!!!!, but I need it to go to the Lloyds one!!!! Honestly, their CS are an absolute joke.Live for what tomorrow has to bring, not what yesterday has taken away0

It would have warned before the payment was made (assuming it was online) that it would take three/four working days. She should then have cancelled it and gone to the branch and withdrawn the cash if she needed it immediately.
OK, Santander are slow implementing FP, but only a few months ago this was the case with all the banks, so it's not as though they are at fault in any way.0 -
Speaking of which, does anybody know how to work out the interest rate on a Santander o/d?Live for what tomorrow has to bring, not what yesterday has taken away0

Or the OP could have done the transaction sooner rather than leave it til the last minute or have done a CHAPS transfer although that would have cost £25 but at least would have gone same day. So really the usless sod is the OP and not the bank!0

My wife has just opened a business bank account with santander
We have been advised that due to the recent merger of abbey/alliance and leciester and bradford and bingley they are working on their systems and envisage fasterpay to be available between Oct-Dec 20100 -

With A&L (Santander alter ego) it's 50p/day for up to 10 days per month providing you're within your overdraft limit. Interest is 0%.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
