dropped kerb parkers

ive vented previously about this in discussion time.

i put a note on the windscreen of the dropped kerb parker and no action was taken so i complained to the council.

yet this person and others keep parking over it despite the council saying they'll get a parking enfrcement officer round to book them.

its not my dropped kerb, its one of those you get on each street corner for the disabled. it pees me off with the buggy ad ive seen plenty of old folk struggling with their shoppi g bags on wheels.

so arethese people just taking the p1ss or as i suspect the cuncil doing nothing about it?

i cant keep putting notes on windscreens of an evening.

Add to that, those people who think that their off-road parking runs from the front of their house to the road (ie, across the footpath too). Sick of having to push a buggy and steer a three year old into the road to get round the cars.

As it's an offence to park within 15 yards of a junction I suggest you get several photos showing the parking breach AND the reg number and complain to the police as it is a persistent problem. As I understand it if an official complaint is made they have to at least pay a visit to the alleged offender.

Have you got a link to the regulations re. this please? College students park all day in my parents' road, practically right up to the junction, making access to and egress from the road extremely difficult and dangerous.

    From the Highwaycode site:
    http://www.highwaycode.gov.uk/22.htm
217: DO NOT park your vehicle or trailer on the road where it would endanger, inconvenience or obstruct pedestrians or other road users. For example, do not stop

    near a school entrance
anywhere you would prevent access for Emergency Services
at or near a bus stop or taxi rank
on the approach to a level crossing
opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space
near the brow of a hill or hump bridge
opposite a traffic island or (if this would cause an obstruction) another parked vehicle
where you would force other traffic to enter a tram lane
where the kerb has been lowered to help wheelchair users
in front of an entrance to a property
    on a bend.

Thank you hjb - and also for your signature, which makes me smile every time I see it!

Does the Highway Code constitute law, or is it just for road safety guidance? Don't want to start stirring things up if there is no actual illegality involved.
