How to enter an unlock code - Samsung Genio

I have purchased an unlock code from Orange for a Samsung Genio Qwerty (B3210)
The instructions say to remove the SIM and enter the code given and press OK.
But doing this gives a "SOS calls only" meassage and no unlock happens
Now, I don't relish having to phone up the foreign Orange call centre and stress myself out again talking really slowly and answering stupid questions for 30 minutes, so if anyone can offer some advice then that would be good :cool:

Try and put another network sim in and see if it comes up to enter a code. Every phone is slightly different to unlock for some reason lolMarch Wins

the only other way i've seen to unlock it is using an unlock box.. did you pay for the code from orange? contract or payg? how much?0
