isa direct cash and isa investor stocks and shares? I'm afraid I dont really know about shares isas, but you can clearly get better rates on cash accounts. I'd have a look around, compare the AER (no manual calcs!) read the terms carefully to make sure there's no surprises. All providers have 30 days to effect a transfer as well so you're money could be in limbo for a bit, losing interest. Ultimately you can only do what you believe to be the best thing for you at the time.

I would not be satisfied with 4.75%. I think I'd be inclined to keep an eye on the rate and perhaps move to the best variable rate account accepting transfers in a few weeks, when the market has stabilised. You should expect to lose 2-3 days interest from transferring, since it is normal practice to backdate interest on the new account to the date they receive the cheque from the old provider - even with that small loss, it usually pays to transfer even for a difference of 0.1%!
  • i will wait to see if they up the isa direct because it for decreased 0.25% a few months ago
