Well ,added up weekend spends and total now £293.31!!! How close is that!

I blame the warm weather - ended up spending a lot on bbq meat and ice cream;)

Pay day Thursday so I'm going to leave my purse at home tomorrow. I'm trying to convince DH we can afford a puppy so I'll have to keep up the penny counting.

Good Luck to everyone for the end of month totals:)

    February Grocery Challenge £301.46/300

    Good evening all,

Haven't posted very often this month, a bit busy with the garden and work.

Only two days left of the month for me, and I am under budget:j I have no reason to go shopping before the weekend so might stay under. I actually only have 4p in my purse (left all the money I need for the week at work (£2.60, coffee money and my chippy lunch on Friday) so I'm not getting any more out until Friday - well that's the plan. We have loads of stuff in the freezer and cupboards so should be no need for spends.

MrsM, please could you put me down for £150.00 for June.
  • Hello everyone,

well end of my GC today as its payday tommorow and declaring at £285.95/£250 so not too bad really.

I did this weeks shop on Sunday in Mr M and spent just over £34, so that wouldnt have took me too much past my total, but yesterday on my travels i went to a HUGE Mr A and couldnt help but pick a few things up, but stuff we needed too-salad, cheese, yoghurts, loo rolls etc, so not a waste of money.

So it's payday tommorow BUT half pay due to sick leave, but have just had my tax credit award notice from WTC so that will be a help and im back at work next week so should manage but won't be much left!

Im going to set JUNE GC £250 PLEASE. Hoping that i won't come anywhere near this because by my salary calculations things will be a bit tight on sick pay and we wont have any spare cash .

Will no doubt be using the freezer a lot in June, as its fit to burst with all my 'bargains', so i need to make the most of them and get them used up!

    Untill next time..

    Night all x

    Hiya

No spend day for me again today :) Keeping fingers crossed that I have a few more this week as I am already over budget by £2.76 :o.

Still, this is the first month I've really made an effort to keep to a budget - I've always tried to spent the least amount of money for the best quality food but that's very different to buying what you need and sticking to a budget isn't it?? Strange that I never thought of it that way before :o Anyway good luck all and special hugs to Winchelsea... x

    Hi everyone

I'm declaring at £268.96 for May, budget was £280 so I'm well pleased :j especially as it was a 5 week month but have managed to get a few bargains and doing some batch cooking, and have menu planned up to when I go on holiday mid July. Also stocked up on cat food which is on offer.

Am growing lots of veg and must have saved some money so far by the amount of salad leaves I haven't had to buy, looking forward to buying very little veg as the summer wears on :D although I really wish I'd grown some strawberry plants....next year.....

Please put me down for £300 for June please Mrs M - DS1 is coming home from uni for a month (:j) to 'have some good home cooking' until he goes away for 5 weeks to Europe. He has hollow legs!!

Good luck for June everyone :D

Hello dobs - hope you do well on the challenge.
Glad hubby’s knee has healed on its own Spiggle
Kayjay1809 - not being as overdrawn as usual is a good start so hopefully you can build on this in June.

Last day of May G/C today and had to buy milk, food for the dog, fruit & veg and some minced pork and also treated the grand children to a couple of cheap toys to take with them when they go camping for the first time next week so total came to £18.62
So can I DECLARE FOR MAY £168.98 :A ………… an amazing £131.02 under the budget :j:j:j The18/28 NSD's certainly helped. I am over the moon but like I said in last post ‘ could have just been a nice fluke’ due to using a number of things out of freezer but we will see next month.

Going to reduce for June but have decided not to go to low (thanks to input from Dobs and Spiggle)
So can be put down for £275 for JUNE please (from26/5 to 22/6) and if under will then reduce again the time after.
Will be doing a shopping list and menu plan tomorrow ready for shopping on Thursday.
Good luck to everyone for June - hope all your spends are low ones.
    MARCH £62.38/250

    Hi
I had a question a while ago about bread making and Keiss21 said about using dough improver from Lakeland, well I decided to see if I could by it from the Claybrooke Mill direct and I can its £5.95 plus p&p I think that is a bit cheaper than Lakeland. I am trying to cut the amount that I spend on food so every little helps
Wow, I must go and investigate, thanks for that booskyeboo! I had tried to order from Lakeland last week, but their website crashed and I wasn't sure whether it had gone through or not. A nice lady phoned the next day to ask whether I wanted to re-order, but as I was planning an NSD then, I declined...how good was I!!

Over budget already, but only by £16.69, and I had reduced my target by £50...and forgot DS2 would be home eating me out of house and home during study leave and exams .

Not sure what to do for next month, as DS2 will be home pretty much all of the time...might try and aim for £350 again...and perhaps go whoopsie-hunting...never seem to do this these days..I save by staying away!!
