Probably the greenfingers board is the best place to check out. I'm going to check it out myself as I have exactly the same problem as you with dandelions & hope somebody can give me some good advice. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Hello jaks111
Your thread is better suited to the 'Greenfingered' board, so I'll move it across for you.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

Having weeds is a sign of a unhealthy lawn. A healthly lawn is less likely to have weeds in because its thick with grass so weeds are less likely although nothing perfect for them to grow
Get something like weed and feed. Then any patches reseed with grass and keep watered and feed with grass feed regularly during growing season March-Sept0 -
I find the best way with Dandelions is to dig them out... you need to get the whole long root out or it will just grow back.. I use a big screwdriver to lever the roots out... you could try a spot weed killer but I never had any luck with them...
Mowing the lawn won't get rid of weeds I use weed and feed twice a year and keep my grass cut often its pretty much weed free now..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I also find it best to dig out dandelions if possible and removed any flower heads as soon as you find them. I used Evergreen on my lawn 5 weeks ago and the grass is lovely now, shame it didn't actually kill off any of the weeds.0

Here's my moneysaving tip - forget about the daisies. Daisies are great - every lawn should have them. I get a fantastic display all summer. Lawns as just very green grass is a completely alien construct to me. It's just some strange modern fashion.
Grassland is a natural habitat full of wildflowers and nature will always try to restore the balance. After todays mowing I've left my bulbous buttercup patch (not to confused with the more invasive creeping buttercup) to come into splendid flower. The bees seem to like my daisies. Daiseis like well grazed permanent pasture very similar to lawns and will always come back so save your time and money and make daisy chains instead. I also have a splendid dandelion show in places - the're fine in the grass as well and after flowering I remove them from my naturalistic borders.0 -
I use table salt to kill dandelions, much easier than trying to dig out the horrible tough roots. Cheap and safer than using highly toxic chemicals.
Just put a little salt directly onto the centre of the dandelion at ground level. Some people use a damp cotton bud to pick up the salt and apply to the weed, I prefer to use a teaspoon. You don't need to use very much salt. Depending on weather conditions you will usually see results in about a week. A second application may be needed if it rains soon after you apply the salt or for very large dandelions. Also great for gaps in paving stones where is is almost impossible to get out all of the root.was ihn nicht umbringt, macht ihn stärker - Nietzsche0 -
Just sit back and enjoy the flowers.0

It has been reported that this year dandelions have taken over everywhere. It's a national problem of unusual proportions. So don't get too stressed about it as lots of people are having the same problem.
Our lawn here is sprouting about 20 new ones per day. We've always just got a knife and cut them out.
As for daisies, I think they make a lawn. Sit and make daisy chains!0 -
google recipes as I have come across a few lately."enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0
