sorry didn't realise you deserved a medal for looking after your own children, is it just me or is it people who are on benefit who seem to hate other people having an opinion on the subject?!?
This forum is about benefit entitlement. If you want a policy discussion, inititiate a new thread on the Discussion Time board.

Please be nice to all MoneySavers : There's no such thing as a stupid question and, even if you disagree, courtesy helps.
Please be sensitive : This may be a web forum, but you’re still talking to other human beings. Repeatedly or harshly saying someone’s wrong, especially on boards like DebtFreeWannabe, Bankruptcy or Benefits, can lead to upset.0 -

I have no wish to be nasty to the OP - and maybe some of these posts (including this one) need to be posted to the Discussions Board - but when I was trying to bring up 4 children through the 80s with a husband with brain damage (almost wrote drain bamage!) I saw very little of my children - because I HAD to work long hours (40+ plus 3 hours daily commuting), to pay the mortgage, to pay the bills, to put food on the table. I missed out yes - but my children have all grown up with a strong work ethic - had I chosen to stay at home and relied upon benefits, we could probably have been better off financially - but I felt - and still do - that it is better for a family to be financialy supported by that family than by the state. Just my opinion.0
