Free Orange Broadband - Does it continue if I take an Orange contract via a 3rd Party

Hi

I have an 18 month Orange contract that has just finished. Part of the deal at the time was free broadband. As I am in a slow broadband area, the speed offered was fine, and I have had no CS issues.

I am now looking to renew on Orange however companies like mobiles co uk and dial a phone have far superior offers.

I was wondering if I keep my number with Orange, but buy a contract from a 3rd party company, do I still get the free broadband? I would ask Orange direct, but no sure if this might raise alarm bells that would otherwise not be triggered? i.e. if I just went with another company on Orange, and kept my number, would they be any the wiser?

Any previous expereinces around this would be appreciated.

cheers

You can't start a new contract and keep your number. Its called a backdoor upgrade and none of the networks allow it.

You'd need to move your number to another networks payg, start the new contract and then move back.

Thanks for that - just thought you could port your number. Is the other option just to start the new Orange contract on the number provided, then get the number ported over in a couple of weeks, or is that not allowed either, or will this mess up the free broadband bit?

Sorry, but you can tell I don't do this very often!!

You can only port from one network to another not to the same one.

I don't see why you can't move your BB from on acc to another, but you might want to call CS and ask the question as I don't know what happens when you ask for your pac code on the existing acc as once you use it that acc is closed ?

The best option (as long as it doesn't mess your BB up) is to ask for your pac on your current acc, get a free payg sim (there are stacks on the net). Move your number to one of them, start a new acc and when you're happy with it, move you number back.
