I recently got a Mercedes B class auto, it takes my wheelchair easily in the boot without having to take the wheels off.

    Was there an advance payment?

  • This quote is from a poster called Trazy a few days ago on another thread. I had said how good the Nissan Note is and this is what she/he posted after me:

Can second this. My parents have this car and there is lots of room for a wheelchair and 4 adults. My dad can even fit his mobility scooter in the back when the seats are folded down

(I'm sorry I couldn't post it as a proper quote - I don't know how when it is from a different thread).

FWIW, the seats fold easily. In the boot, there is a couple of boards. You can put stuff under the boards and more stuff on top. The boards are level with the lip of the car boot. It's quite hard to explain and you really need to look at it to see what I mean. I'm sorry I can't be clearer. My point is that every possible space is used for storage.

On the model I have, the glove box is also a cool box that fits 2x 2 litre bottles in it. There is also an open pocket on the outside of the glove box. The passenger seat lifts up for storage. There are airline style tables in the back, and storage pockets on the backs of the driver and passenger seats. There is even a little slot to put your parking ticket in, as well as a couple of places for change.

On the dashboard, there is a lift up lid, with quite a decent sized storage space inside. I keep all sorts of bits and bobs in there - I was surprised at how much stuff there was when I had a clearout!

When we go on holiday, I can fit my son's wheelchair, all the luggage, his medicaines, milks and nappies into the car, with careful planning. It's an awful lot (myself, daughter [19], and sons [10 and 12]). The kids also have a few toys and games, some books and the DVD players, and usually a couple of pillows as well. The twelve year old is still using a booster seat.

If all three have to sit in the back, it is a bit cramped now, especially with the booster seat. Usually, though, one sits in the front.

This link shows the board system that I tried to describe earlier in my post - click on Luggage board/ Flexboard. The picture is small and not particularly good, but it's marginally better than my description!

I have the Qashqai automatic [known as CVT] petrol 2l as a normal car is too low for me to get in and out of easily.. the boot is massive but it has an advance payment.. I think most automatic types have an advance payment as automatics are usually dearer.

£3379, but I think you can get a lower spec model for less.

Thanks for that - very helpful. Because it looks smaller than the average MPV, I thought storage would be compromised, but would you say I would need to fold any seats down to get a scooter in? At present my husband takes the chair off the scooter to get into the Scenic, which is not a problem, so as long as we can still do that then it would be fine.

I'm sure if you go to a dealer, you'd be able (or your husband) can see how well your scooter fits in the boot?
