Life threatening plants in my garden!

I am now not so worried about what dry complete food to give my pup.
I have just been reading a list of garden plants that could kill pets!
This means that I will have to completely demolish my garden as I have most of these plants in it, and my new pup does ' dig ' the garden and chews on leaves of plants. I cannot watch him 24/7, so , is the garden 'out of bounds' for my pup?
I have not had a pup for 12 years and never had all these problems with the other 5 dogs I have had ( all lived into 'old age')

Hi renegade, perhaps you could list the plants you are worried about and the source of your information? No one else can give you an informed answer unless we have specifics.0

I have quite a few of the plants that are classed as dangerous to pets, in fact I bet we all have. Most dogs/cats will leave these alone, I think there is something that triggers a no go to them. There are plants on my list that i wouldnt have ever thought were dangerous.
This is my list it might help some one. Sorry its a bit long

I didn't realise Aloe was dangerous, I was re-potting my plant last year when I found my dog chewing on one of the babies I was separating from the main plant, didn't seem to do her much harm though!0

Thanks for the list but it doesn't say how dangerous each plant is. For example it could be that a drop of daffodil pollen is deadly for pets or it might be that they have to eat a whole bunch of them which only the daftest pet would do.
I wouldn't demolish the garden or ban the pet from it unless I had a list that gave some indication of risk.0 -
We havnt removed any of our plants, TJ seems to know which he can chomp on and which to leave alone lol. Daffs are a no no but he likes pansys, so I guess they are not as stupid as some people make out.

This is a useful searchable database of plants that are toxic to dogs and cats: http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/poison-control/plants/
Hope it helps0 -

The internet does seem to specialise in throwing up huge long lists of things...I guess I'm just a bit skeptical of how applicable they are in the real world.
I can't offer any qualified advice so take my view with a pinch of salt but if is was me unless they were chomping through huge quantities of stuff I would just eliminate anything obvious such as ivy and foxgloves. We have 4 mogs and the only thing we take care with is lily pollen and they all seem fine. They all like eating grass and one has a strange addiction to the hedge but apart from that they leave most things alone.0 -
Most of us walk our dogs in parks and woods which are full of poisonous plants - I think in reality very few dogs are poisoned by eating plants, probably because they do not appeal to them to consume in great quantities. Observing your dog, especially as a pup is probably the wisest step.
I believe the most comon form of poisoning in dogs is actually from eating Slug Pellets - as they are designed to be palatable, and many dogs are attracted to them (even the ones touted as being unnappealing to dogs!) - I have heard of dogs chewing into the plastic tub to eat the pellets. Sadly, I think many people are unaware of this risk.0
