Mmorning all......((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))) if you need one.
Re tonsillitis, my eldest DD used to suffer very badly from it, The Drs kept giving her antibiotics.....despite me asking for a referral; at 15 when she was getting it regularly I insisted she be referred to ENT.....at the consultation the consultant told me off for not getting her seen sooner (I was a nurse on the ENT ward) when I said that I had asked for her to be referred before he asked me who my GP was and told me I should have spoken to him, he would have seen her privately. She was referred for her tonsils to be removed, at 15 this was no joke......she sat one day and solidly chewed at a piece of toast until she had eaten it, they had told her she could not be discharged until she could eat it......she developed resistance to the antibiotics and when she was pregnant they had a real problem treating a kidney infection.........anti b's for too long are not a good idea.......
Its blooming cold here this morning, the wind is blowing a hoolie again and its very grey. We have had rain overnight, the puddle at the end of the road is quite large again, it had almost dried up.
Nothing much doing today I am out at the quilting group this afternoon, think I will bake some scones and a carrot cake have a load of carrots to use up. OH has nothing to have forn his afternoon tea......Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
morning!
didn't get on here yesterday as DH and I had a lovely day out at the seaside in Wales. Was lovely and sunny although not too warm.
Poor DS1s partner had a difficult day yesterday as his mum had a head on car accident (everyone ok thankfully) in the morning and in the afternoon his Dad had a second suspected heart attack. DS is busy ferrying everyone to the hospital and helping out as luckily he's got the week off work.
Lots to do today after a day off yesterday. Tons of washing and ironing to do. House needs a good clean and the bed needs changing. Car needs cleaning out(lots of sand) and later am off to visit Mum and also her elderly friend and on top of all that I want to get my hair trimmed this week as its so thick!
DS kindly brought 2 bin bags of washing home for me to do:eek: poor machine is in overdrive!:D
tea is HM mushroom and onion quiche.
Lunch is jacket spud and cheese.
(((hugs))) to all those in need
Diva - hope you're soon better x
Jackie - good luck at hospital and I hope Basil is ok x
have a great day all xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning all,
Sorry to hear about tonsilitis N9eav....I had mine out at 3 and have never had a throat problem, DD4 had to have hers done at 17 and it was very painful so I would look for a referral!
Diva....glad that you are improving, enjoy the rhubarb.
JackieO...good luck at hospital.
Windy but no rain here, we are off to our third funeral in 10 days in a few minutes, hopefully it will be the last for a while.
Hugs to all, back later no doubt.

N9eav - I'm another who firmly believes in having tonsils out if you have constant infections. My chidhood was blighted by the things till they came out age 11, my dd had hers out at 7 but DS still has his and gets terrible bouts of tonsillitis when he's run down.
My back is a lot better thak you Diva, I hope your sickness continues to get better. I need to do some planning for our American visitors, both meals and activities, luckily it's an easy journey to London and Cambridge is also a good bet. I'll have to come up with some alternatives that don't cost too much. Apparently the woman is a quilter so I think a trip to the exhibition at the V & A is in order.
Have a good day everyone.
I just wanted to ask if anyone could tell me what I am doing wrong with my knitting. I'm knitting a snood thing on a circular needle and it keeps wrapping itself into knots and resisting any attempt to straighten it out ..DH laughs at me and tells me I'm knitting a mobius strip http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%B6bius_strip .0 -

Had another successful driving lesson yesterday. He thinks I'm pretty much test ready, but I have issues with my nemesis from many years ago - reversing round a s*dding corner!!!! I will never EVER reverse round a corner - I will go further down the road and do a 3 point turn (which incidently, you're not allowed to call it any more in case you need more than 3 points to do it in :wall: since when did driving become an excerise in being politically correct?!).
Well it might not be a case of being PC as it was called " a turn in the road using forward and reverse gears" when I passed my test 18 years ago *gulps* wow am I really that old:eek: I don't even think the term PC had been coined back then :rotfl:
Anyway good luck with the lessons - I too struggled with the reversing round the corner but a few weeks before my test was due the penny dropped somewhere and I could then do it.
As quiet at Chez Bitsy. H off poorly with a banging headache, feeling sick etc. Tried to keep the kids away from him upstairs by telling them he'd gone out -norty mummy but seemed to do the trick
Going to be a loooooooooooon summer with DD who screams like a banshee everytime there is a fly or a bumble bee. Continues to sob with her hands over her eyes  She was fine until last week when a friends daughter (older) had a massive hissy fit at a bee and I think she thinks they are something to be frightened of.........
Made tomato, courgette and cheese spirals using filo pastry and had for lunch. Very tasty. Should have bought puff pastry but being a blonde I bought filo instead :rotfl: Anyway some of the kids liked them as did I so will give it another go sometime with the proper pastry.
Washing on the line, it's cloudy here but actually pretty warm. Cleaned bathroom, vac-ed upstairs and downstairs and another load of washing to put on and another to hang. Better get a shufty on otherwise I'll be rushing before school run.
Tea is a makeshift/baked spud as I have tap class tonight
Diva - well done on your toast eating efforts. Hope the pain eases soon xx
Lamewolf - still not sleeping?? Hugs to you. Go and crawl to the sofa and get some rest. The dust bunnies will be there again soon enough anyway xx
taplady - hope DS1's partner is OK and coping with all the stress. Hope his parents are recovering OK xx
Essex-girl - well done on your caravan purchase. Hopefully that will be us next year :j Any pics??? Like being nosey me
N9eav - hope your son is feeling better soon. I had tonsillitus once when I had Glandular Fever - never again  it was horrendous!
NPM and Bargainbird - Oi girlies where are youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu?
Thread is really quiet again <stamps foot> where is everyone??!
Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
