OS Daily Thread - Wednesday 28th April 2010

Options
Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Wednesday 27th April. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
HSINhouseWindow02HL.gifMorning lovely OS-ers!
LadyGrim - hugs.gif Hope you are doing Ok.
Cranky - Thinking of you and the house elf.
JackieG - How is your back doing?
SunnyGirl - hugs
StroppyJock - Enjoy your week with your sister and brother-in-law
Penpin - nice to see you posting again and so sorry to hear about your family troubles. Hope your husbands op goes well too.
Butterfly - can I borrow your OH, my house hasn't been decorated in yonks and my OH can't even apply paint in a straight line?
Noahs - hope your OH's scan went OK the other day
Snoozer - I do hope your back feels better today
Annie - well that IS a bit nerdy!!giggle.gif I don't make notes of the polls but I am following it in the papers and on TV.
Still not eating much though at last I have the drugs I should have been taking three weeks ago. Hurrah!! You have to dissolve them on your tongue and they taste disgusting but I was only sick once today! Kept down two pieces of toast so that is a step forward. Just need to find a way to sleep for more than two hours now without waking in agony and having to get up. So so tired and it makes me a bit emotional.
Terribly excited cos my OH bought me in a pic of my very own home grown asparagus!! I threw some in the ground last year that promised a crop this year but I didn't have any faith as I were late planting them, but there they are! What with that and our rhubarb just about ready for picking, I will be glad to get better so I can eat some of it. Oooh just realised, that counts as OS-iness in a way, so at least I won't be frowned at today.. giggle.gif
Anyway, I hope everyone has a good day. With love and light to all.

Morning Diva. Hope you continue to recover.

My son has tonsillitis, 2 trips to the docs and one to NHS direct to get the correct diagnosis. Everyone wants to say it's a bit of flu go away.... But you just know they are wrong.... At least we are on the right track now..

Spent the evening at school watching the kids performance of Bugsy. Daughter was in it and did very well...

Work later, but first Jamaican blue mountain coffee, courtesy of a friend from church who just came back from there. Second coat of paint on my boat.
Order my Polytunnel. Negotiated a good deal that should get me what I want. Just deciding if I want 25 feet or 30 feet?

Well, have a good day everyone.

Morning all, glad you have got the right drugs at last MSD hope you are soon on the mend and fighting fit again
N9eav go for 30ft I bet you will find something to go in there and if you don't you may wish you had once its up.
Busy day today School run first thing ,then a college run for DGD who has split up at long last with her waste of space boyfriend,so lots of there, there's from Granny then I want to pop into Aldi's to view the veggies in there and the a trip along to the Dockside to get some more blue wool for the Chelsea blanky I am knitting for DGS Jack for Christmas.
I have a mammogram appointment at the hospital at 12.30. so fingers crossed there.I see my surgeon next week and with luck my two year remisssion date will be o.k. Although its three years since my op. apparently they count remission as from the end of treatment which was with the r/therapy in June 2008 which in turn has been followed with daily drugs.
Then its a three thirty pick up for the little lads this afternoon as my Son-in-law has a meeting to go to.
Holidays are over for me and its back to normal again.I hope everyone has a good day,Still no sign of 'Basil' so it looks like I have a single parent blackbird with little ones in my tree at the bottom of the garden.I shall put some food down there for her as I expect she won't want to fly far grom her babies just yet.I can hear a lot of squaking and cheeping when I go down there so I guess they have hatched.
    Take care all

    Morning All

Glad you have your meds sorted Diva

N9eav - hope DS gets well quickly

Jackie - Good Luck for the hospital today.

Another sunny day here :jgot loads of washing dried yesterday and also cleaned the kitchen windows and blinds. Some paperwork done but the big news is yesterday we bought a caravan :T Its a cheap one, only 2 berth but comes with a unused awning so the kids can sleep out there. Just needs a really good clean and it will be great. Didn't want to spend a lot of money, 1 because we havn't got it and 2 we are not sure if we will like it :rotfl: Anyway we will pick it up Thursday and start working on it. We only want to use it locally around Essex & Suffolk.

Anyway today I have a busy one, off to Lakeside and Dartford to pick up a driver who will be dropping one of our lorry's to the garage as OH is working today. Then home just in time to watch DS play football for his school.

Kids will be having an early tea as I am off out with my oldest mates, havn't seen them for ages - we are going to Frankie & Benny's & am really looking forward to it.

Need to and wake up DD now, have a great day and (((hugs))) to anyone who needs one.x

    Morning all,

Bright day here again, its meant to be turning cold at the weekend, so better make the most of it.

Off to work today, I did 5 hours at home yesterday, which will help with the bills etc. Will have a quick tidy round before I go, and shove the dw on. Rubbish has been put out.

Dinner tonight will be either pizza and salad or or cheese and mushroom omlette and salad, either way all nice and easy.

DD had a mock interview at school yesterday regarding her work experience, they said she was a delight :o :T she is off to work at a centre for people with learning disabilities in June for two weeks, she is really looking forward to it.

Ok better go and make my lunch, have good days all xx

Morning all, hope everybody is doing OK.

I’ve eaten too much chocolate cake. This home baking lark is just not good for the figure! Need to go on a diet. Well, when I say diet, I mean one of those “only eating chocolate as a treat” type diets, rather than eating it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I noticed Puppy-Dog is looking a bit podgy too so we shall nip that in the bud and get fit together. I feel a trip to the arboretum coming on…

Things to do to day: Wash up (shamefully neglected from last night), hang washing on line (done), make dinner (mac & Cheese with veg), wash Puppy-Dog (he has been led astray by his labradoodle girlfriend and they went swimming yesterday), do menu plan for may (should have done yesterday, but didn’t). Menu planning’s tricky at the moment as we don’t know when we’re moving. Hopefully we’ll get a date soon.

    Hugs to all in need

    Morning all

Work for me this AM and MSing this afternoon...well one is more merchandising but it all falls under the same umbrella!

I got an email yesterday from a MSing company to apply for a 'premium self catering holiday' so my application was in for that!! We won't be able to afford a holiday this year so that would be terrific and although it would be 'work' I would happily do it! fingers crossed please :D

just seen an advert for Mr A's new price guarantee....might be worth a look!

OS well I'm struggling at the moment! I did intend to get my house jobs done last night but I'm came over a bit dizzy - think it was tiredness so I took a tablet and just rested. Feel ok this morning.

o0o0o0o nearly forgot!! My broccolli sprouted the other day and yesterday loads of my french beans popped up as did a couple of shoots of basil!! Nos sign of my leeks, parsnips of carrots but I'm wondering if thats because they are all root veg maybe?

Must crack on - Have a good day :D

    Morning All ,

MSD - glad to hear you're making progress, hopefully there'll be no stopping you once the meds have set in!!
N9eav - hope your DS feels better soon
JackieO - good luck at the hospital
JC - what do you mean when you talk about your MS jobs? I'm intrigued
    JackieG - how's your back?

Had another successful driving lesson yesterday. He thinks I'm pretty much test ready, but I have issues with my nemesis from many years ago - reversing round a s*dding corner!!!! I will never EVER reverse round a corner - I will go further down the road and do a 3 point turn (which incidently, you're not allowed to call it any more in case you need more than 3 points to do it in :wall: since when did driving become an excerise in being politically correct?!).

OS wise today, I have still some ironing to catch up on, and tea tonight is peri peri chicken, wedges and corn on the cob. Would love to know how to make peri peri sauce from scratch so if anyone knows of any recipes, please point me in the right direction :)

Have a lovely day, hugs to all in need/want xx
