I would prefer a camera being as high MP as poss because sometimes I will want to have stuff in high sizes (large family portraits etc)

Megapixels on their own mean very little. Squeezing more pixels off a tiny sensor increases noise rather than necessarily a better resolution.

A 6mp camera will have around 3000x2000 pixels of resolution. At 100dpi that will print a 30x20 inch canvas. How big do you want to go?

Shutter lag, good optics, decent sensor, manual controls and other such goodies are more important IMHO and discussed at dpreview.com and other sites :)

For the money £99 it`s hard to beat this 12m pixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX40 Digital Camera from M&S.

I know it`s out of stock at the moment but it`s been going in and out all week, just keep checking the link.
    2 year guarantee as well.

This is out of stock online but if iy is any use to anyone they have some in stock at Braehead store near Glasgow reduced to only £74 which is a total bargain if you are in no need of the newest model!
